My suede bag

First a short story.  When I was 18 I had an 18th birthday party and my aunt flew over from Canada to surprise me at the party.  It was also our engagement party as well.  Anyway she brought a friend with her, and it was either her, or her friend who bought me a burgundy suede shoulder bag.  I LOVED that bag.  Can't remember what happened to it, but I used it all the time.

Fast forward to September of 2022 and we went to the UK.  We stayed with my brother, and his house is a ten minute walk from Gretna Outlet Mall.  Mark's and Spencer was there, I was in there nearly every day!!  They also had a Kate Spade location.  Now I will say I complained miserably about the prices of things over there.  3 pounds for a coffee was just flipping crazy!!

Anyhow, I called into the Kate Spade store, just to see what's what, not planning on buying anything.  However, as soon as I spied this bag I fell in love with it.  I have the exact same bag in burgundy leather. I visited that store nearly every day we were there.  I swear they knew me by sight.

I went back and forward with wanting it and then not wanting it.  It helped when ds arrived and he decided to buy his wife a bag as a gift, so I got an extra discount.  Then I could justify buying it....LOL😁

Now you are going to laugh at this, but this bag has pride of place in my closet!!  I haven't used it yet.  I figured I would wait until the nicer weather, as I don't want to ruin the suede.

I love this bag and will treasure it!

Do you have something that you love but have never used?

That’s a lovely bag. You can buy a spray that will make it water proof. Not put it in water proof but definitely rain proof. I use it on my Ugg boots and reapply every year

I have a Kate Spade that I don't use actually!! I just found it too big. It's nice and red, bought it about 7 ish years ago. Their stuff is gorgeous, glad you got a discount!

It's really really nice Gill! I can see why you are saving it.

Also, one of the things I miss the very most is Marks & Sparks!!!! The food, the underwear! Yes, the simple things! LOL

That's so nice your son came to England too. I imagine it had been a long time for him. Hoping you all had a fabulous time.

I think I would have been highly tempted over that bag too. You won't regret spending the money. I wish, when I find a purse I love, that I would be able to buy several exactly the same because finding a new version is a lesson in frustration. I carry the same bag all year 'round because I've never been able to find seasonal ones that suit my tastes. Fussy, obviously!!!!

Definitely a very nice bag, and I love the color. I also enjoyed those steps back in time. An enjoyable read.

Heaven's no. I use everything. But I understand why you'd do this. It's a gorgeous bag!

Gorgeous bag. I can understand waiting for good weather so that the suede stays lovely.

God bless.

It’s lovely!! Can’t you “Scotch Guard” it? I don’t “save” stuff for rainy days.. use it & love it well!

I have never saved a suede bag for a dry day. I can put it under my coat or hunch over it a bit. Actually, I never worry about getting one wet, just dry it off inside.

It's a beautiful bag and it looks so well made. I would be saving it for a dry day, too. Like, June?

You will probably understand this...I have fabric that I take out and look at it and pet it, and then put it back because I cannot bring myself to cut it. Mostly Kaffe Fassett fabrics, and some Tula Pink.
