Favourite Things #7

I love my Swiffer products.  I have both the duster's and the floor cleaner.  I have been using these products for years.  I have both the short and long handled dusters.  The long handled one is so handy for getting up into high and low places; saves me bending over!!

To clean the floors I use the regular wet mopping cloths, and for my hardwood floors use the wood ones.  I never buy any other than the Swiffer brand, but the dry sweeping cloths I use Walmart's own brand.  It's cheaper and does as good a job as the name brand.
I dry swiffer every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Below is what I picked up on one of those days.  I have no idea where all the dust comes from in our house.  There is only the two of us living here?
Do you use the swiffer brand products?

I don't think I've ever used them but they look and sound good.

I did buy the dollar store version. Then, when I got a cleaner bought the Swiffer and the wet clothes. However, I only bought the one five-pack of wet cloths. I use pieces of tshirt and washcloths. I have never used it as I cannot push it. We got rid of Tommy's string mop that was too heavy and filthy and had been sitting or lying in the kitchen floor for about 20 years. I recently taught him the trick of dropping a wet cloth on a spill or stickiness and pushing it around to clean that spot.

I don't use swifter (altho it is available in the UK) I've got a set of extending handle with two alternate heads. One head is a regular broom, the other a flat rectangle with velcro. It came with two washable microfibre pads. I got it cheap in a garden centre years ago. The pads from IKEA fit it perfectly. It's very efficient at dust-grabbing and slides beautiully under the bed and cupboards.

When my cat was alive, I used Swiffer on my floors. She's walk across the floor, stop...lick her paws. Then, she'd spend several days being sick until I figured out what was making her ill. I've never used the product, since.

I have a swiffer that I use with dry cloths, but honestly I sweep more than I swiffer to get the bigger bits up. I have a swiffer duster (the short handled one) which is good in a pinch, but to do a more thorough job, I like a spray of Pledge and a cloth. The floor swiffer is good to get under the couches, though! -Jenn

I don't use Swiffer (the dollar store versions of them) products although when we lived at the house I did. Now we're in the apartment we have tile in the kitchen, entrance way and bathroom and carpet elsewhere. Hate carpet! Dust is a battle here all the time. I used to use Swiffer floor cloths as dust cloths but a friend gifted me with the dusting mitt from Norwex and that's all I use now. I also have the glass cleaning cloths from Norwex and I love them - hardly ever use Windex or a paper towel anymore. We use a mop that has a washable 'fluffy' fabric pad with a little vinegar in the water and it does a good job.

I've never used it, but seeing the dust bunnies in my bedroom makes me think about it. I haven't got further than thinking. I have monthly house cleaners, so they leave the place beautiful and I stop thinking about a swiffer between visits.

We don't have that brand in the UK but I think the Flash speed mop and Flash power mop are the same sort of thing. I looked at one of those but I thought the pads worked out expensive. I have a spin mop for the kitchen and the wooden floors I like to use the almond scented Method floor cleaner with a bog standard micro fibre cloth and mop. We don't get lots of dust on the wooden floors. I was told once that wooden floors don't attract as much dust as laminate flooring, don't know how true that is.

I have a Norwex sleeve for the dry duster. I love it. I'm not keen on having a lot of disposable things.

I use the wet swiff3r mop and love it. It’s so easy to clean the floor in just a few minutes. We also use the dusters. I’m like you, I love them too.

I use the Walmart dry duster sheets, Swiffer wet ones. Save my back also.

Such a great invention.
