We finally got rid of our home phone line at the end of last year. Hubby was dead against it, but we only had a handful of older relatives that ever called us on it. So I decided to take the plunge and have to say I have no regrets. Both dh and I have cell phones so it's no biggie.
The kids got rid of theirs years ago. It seems very few people actually have a home line. Due to one family member having a medical issue, I have my phone glued to me at all times though.
I have my ring tone set so it quacks like a duck!! I know odd but very effective. If I am out shopping and don't hear it quacking I can guarantee someone else will and will be looking at me strangely. As they will be looking for the duck in the store!!
You know the funny thing is, I just looked up duck quacking and there are all sorts of free ringtones you can get, didn't know that. Mine was an option on my I-Phone. We like the Apple I-Phone in this house as we use the Facetime a lot and dh knows how to use it.
Me, well the flipping phone is smarter than me, but I am getting there with it. I use the texting a lot, got a few apps installed now that I use on a regular basis. I take all my photos using the phone, so all in all I am happy with it. It is an I-Phone 12 mini.

One of the few downsides of the beautiful county is that parts of Norfolk have really poor mobile phone coverage. So a land-line is important. When I was away, it was sometimes impossible to call home on my mobile. And when my neighbour fell at her front door, I had to go inside to her land-line to call my husband - who was just yards away in our house. My land-line is staying
We kept out home phone for ages in case we had a power outage we could still make and receive calls without having to worry about recharging. But once we got the internet and the phone line had to come through it we gave it away. No power. No internet no phone.
I think, I got rid of my home phone about 10 years ago. Like You, I am always glued to my cell phone. My ring tone currently is the X-Files Opening Theme but, I think I will go back to It's My Life" by Bon Jovi or one of the Star Trek Themes.
It took me a very long time (only about a year ago) to get rid of my land line. The main thing I miss about is is calling myself when I can't find my cell phone.
We had one of those - plus, when I was a kid, we had the old wooden one on the wall. We still have a landline with two extension phones so we're never far away from it. I have a cell phone but never use it other than to call the grocery store to tell them we're there to pick up our groceries. I have it for emergencies if we're out anywhere but otherwise can't be bothered with it.
We still have our home phone. We have a "bundle" service of phone, internet and cable and to remove the home phone was only a few dollars a month saving, so just kept it. Did you know you can set different notification and ring tones for different people? I have one for my daughter (quick typing), one for my son (an old fashioned horn), and one for my husband (a sci-fi type sound). I also have an iPhone. -Jenn
We keep our landline because we live in a spot where phone signal is iffy. I don't carry my cell phone around in the house and it is turned off most of the day. It is a godsend though when we are out and about. I do have my PC on all day though incase I need to use it.
My step dad never got into cellphones, so the landline is here mainly for him and my 93 year old grandfather to call my mom. Otherwise, I am 100% cellphone. The ONLY upside to a landline now is if you have a traditional one, that can work during data outages. Otherwise it's not a cheap service and you can invest in satellite phones to use in case of emergency!
We still have a home phone here. I have it for when one of the kids (who doesn't have a cell phone) is home and for emergencies. The good thing about mobiles here is they aren't more expensive to ring than land lines like in the UK. If I'm going to have a proper conversation I prefer to do it on the home phone. I think mine is $9 a month.
I love those old phones! We have one that I got for $5 at a charity shop.
Home phone only, refuse to get a cell phone. I hate being bothered by the phone, so the last thing I would want is to carry one with me. How do I survive without one? Well, the way I see it, I don't want to pay to make other people's jobs easier for them. ("Can't you just use your phone?") Also, if I don't use a smart phone, you can't hack my smart phone. I'm sure I'll have to give in eventually, but for now, if you can't figure out how to get in touch with me because I don't have a cell phone, you are probably not the type of person I want to be in touch with. Sheesh, I'm getting old...
I think we got rid of our landline probably 14+ years ago. The only people that I know that still have a landline are my 88 year old in-laws.
My cell phone ring tone is classical music.

Nope, don't have a land line anymore, not for a few years now, except for my sister I don't know anyone who has one. I can remember those phones, we had one when I was younger, dad used to put a lock on it because we were using it too much, lol
We still have a home phone, mainly because we get a discount when we combine our phone, TV and internet together.
Perhaps some day we will get rid of it.

We don't have any cell coverage where we live so it's a land line here.
I had a home phone for when the electricity went out. Then, here Tommy does not want to give it up and I will not even suggest it. It cost him $60/month. We both carry a cell phone for our safety. Neither of us can get up if we fall. And, if in the car, we cannot walk even a block for help. Mine sounds like a regular telephone which confuses people. His is a twitter that is barely audible.
My friend in the National Guard has assured me that if we use a cell, it can be picked up by their equipment. Creepy!
