Do any of you own an Air Fryer? Family members have them and are encouraging me to get one. The two family members love theirs. What is holding me back from getting one is that I use my upper/small oven all the time; it's the perfect size for the two of us. The second thing is space, I don't want any more clutter on the countertop and storage is limited.
So what are the pro's and cons for you who own one. Also if you have one, what size is it and how many people do you feed? What brand is yours?
Thanks for your input.

I have resisted buying an air fryer - I use my small top oven and that suits me. Air Fryers take up a lot of work top space and need to be out all the time or I think they just end up in a cupboard gathering dust !!
My daughter convinced me to get one. It’s great for cooking frozen chips, or chicken nuggets quickly for the girls. I’ve also cooked ribs, sausages and home made sausage rolls in it.
The great thing is, it comes apart easily and it all goes in the dishwasher
It is something else to have on the counter. So a tad annoying but I guess if I had more storage space, which I don’t. It could go in there.
I had one, used it twice and Tommy broke the latch, so I tried to fix it, kept it for a year, and set it on the curb. I liked it. I think I cooked a burger in it and chicken breasts. It was a pain to wash. I wish I had it back. But, the idea of lifting out that huge piece that held the food held little allure for me. If I had to vote whether you should get one, I say YES.
I was on the fence for a long time and finally bought one this year. I got it at Costco on a Black Friday deal for $50. It’s the Gourmia brand and is 7qt. There are only 2 of us but it is a good size. I do keep it on my counter but I have the space. I use it for roasted potatoes/sweet potatoes, vegetables. Inhale cooked chicken and salmon. It’s very good for frozen food - hash browns, nuggets, sausage rolls. I do plan to explore more recipes this year and use it more. My oven has an air fryer feature but I only have one big oven so it doesn’t work as well.
I bought the Ninja 14 in 1 a few years ago and we LOVE it. It does everything and lifts up when not in use so takes up very little counter space. This replaced our old toaster and convection oven. I'm really impressed with all of the uses it has and how well it cooks everything.
I bought one to reheat pizza and stuff like that. I love toasting hot dogs and buns in it but that is less than once a month. If you follow blogger Frugal in Norfolk (can't remember the new blog name) she cooks a log in hers.
We have the Cuisinart model. Husband loves it. It's a toaster/toaster oven/convection oven/airfryer.
Holds a 9x9 pan. Perfect for the two of us
Hello again Gill :)
It's been a while, somehow I lost track of your blog and was so happy to find it and see you blogging again.
I LOVE my airfryer. Like you I also have a small countertop oven for the 2 of us, which I use all the time. But the airfryer is a different beastie....great for anything like battered fish, chips, egg rolls, anything with a coating or crust. Worth making room for. xo
I have a small air fryer (Emil Lagasse brand) which holds 1-2 servings and I have cabinet space for it, so I just take it out when I use it.
It is good for reheating fried fish, various vegetable tots, egg rolls, stuff you want crisp.
My new stove advertised it has air fryer ability and came with a shallow wire basket which allows the air to circulate around the food.Haven't used it as heating the full oven compared to one serving of food seems wasteful to me.
Perhaps you could experiment with a fine wire basket in your small oven to crisp your food...you would want to have something below the basket to catch any grease though.
Hubs and I had one but sent it off to donation. Used it a few times, the size was fine for us as it was only the two of us, but it had a teflon coated interior basket and we thought it unsafe to use without some sort of liner between the teflon basket and the food. It didn't think it was worth having to buy parchment paper or silicone mats to reduce the contact of the coated basket with the food. I don't consider an air fryer a necessity.
The only reason I have one is because it is an option built in to my range. It can heat frizen things, like taquitos, in 9 minutes, no preheating. If I didn't have that option, I don't think I would get a countertop one. We don't eat a lot of things people use them foor. Also, I don't need another item on my counter. I can't imagine having an instant pit either...never got the point. I have three different sized Crock Pots. If i need a pressure cooker, which inever ha e, I have my Presto canner/pressure cooker. Honestly, the only "gadgets" I think I NEED in the kitchen are the stand mixer, toaster and Crock Pot.
I have one and use it just about every day. It is the perfect small convection oven, which is what I use it for. I can have biscuits or rolls baked in about 7 minutes with no preheating.
I have baked cookies in it, made small cakes, roasted veggies, in fact there is little that can cooked in an oven that I have not made in it.
I did not get the large one and this size is great for the two of us, however if I have company it is too small to use.
I clean mine while it is still warm and have little trouble washing the basket and the grate.
I don't have one, but I am considering it. LIke you, I don't really want any more clutter on the countertop. I am going to see what I perhaps don't use as much and see if I can get rid of something else!
I have a no-name (bought at Canadian Tire) basket style that gets used quite a bit. I prefer it to turning the oven on. I use it to roast potatoes and vegetables as well as cooking frozen foods like french fries or egg rolls. It's great for reheating things as well.
I had one given to me, and like it for salmon, chicken and french fries. Should cook more things in it, (the old dog, new tricks) thing. There is room in my cupboard for it, so it does not clutter the counter top.
If, I had to buy one, not sure I would even bother.
I DON'T HAVE ONE EITHER.
I'm afraid I don't have one but our #2 son and d-i-love do and they use theirs a lot. They're busy with 3 little ones and both working so I imagine it saves them time.
