One of those days not sure what to talk about................

(THIS POST SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED ON SATURDAY, SORRY)

so I guess I will just chit chat about this and that.

Friday was a dreary wet day and very foggy.  However on a positive note the temperature was above freezing and at least the snow is starting to melt.  Mind you with the rain comes the mud, and that is one job we must do, get a load of gravel for the driveway to cover up the dirt.  I still haven't seen any of my bulbs popping through the dirt yet, but at least I can see nearly all the gardens now.

We finally got the quotes in for the work we want done in the house this year.  Dh is working six/seven days a week at the moment, and that will continue until at least June.  So we are getting a company to finish drywalling the attic, and do the taping, mudding and sanding.  They will also be sorting out our bedroom ceiling as well at the same time.  We have given them the go ahead with that, so that should be done in the next week or two.

The other main job we want done is some work in the old basement and two new windows in the new basement.  We haven't given the go ahead on that job yet, as that is a big and expensive job that is labour intensive and although we need to do the work, spending that amount of money frightens me.  I do think we will go ahead with it, but that work won't be done until sometime in April when the weather turns a bit warmer.

Now I am not sure how many Ontario readers I have?  If anyone in Ontario shops in the Zehrs grocery store's would you mind saving your grocery store cash receipts for me.  We are fund raising at the church I go to and one of the fund raising things is collecting the Zehrs receipts.

It's March break here in Ontario this coming week, so I saw on the news that Toronto airport was super busy with people escaping the winter for more sunny destinations.

Also on Saturday night/Sunday morning the clocks move forward, as its Daylight Savings Time.  We used to be a week behind Britain, but the USA decided to change that, and of course we Canadians followed suit......

I took this photo of a wall in Meaford last September, just thought I'd show you it.

Did you remember to put your money in your daily savings pot today?

Today's money saving tip:

Make Homemade Organic Fertilizer using this recipe  Bit of an ususual combination but it may work........

By the way, I have a question for you all.  Do you actually like the Money Saving Tips, and the Daily Savings Pot reminders?

I see you found your full time job for the coming months. :) I had so much work done on our house - and it doesn't belong to us! - I know everything about contractors by now. It is tough, they make your life, well, difficult. Good luck!

Hi Gill,

Is it only the Zehrs receipts that you are collecting? Unfortunately we do not have any in our area, or I would save them for you.

Yes, I love the reminders and tips. It makes me think to pocket some change during my day to put in my container later.

Thanks,
Christine

Quick Question: Gill, have you lived anyplace with hard water while using the homemade laundry soap? I'm getting up the nerve to try it with mine. Just want to make sure I do the right thing. I dread repair bills. Sure would like to save on the soap, especially since the cheap stuff I was using isn't working so well now. Thanks. ~Liz

I love it all! Good luck, its a few weeks before our building work starts and the fear of spending serious money I can understand. Be great to get it sorted so your tips are for a reason.
Happy Saturday.

Hello Gill
Hows the money tree fared during the winter - hopefully it will bear lots of fruit so you can pay for this extra work lol

Don't worry Gill, your bulbs should be along soon, I saw some poking through near work the other day!

Thanks for sharing the photo of the trompe l'oeil mural, I love those!

I started reading today's post and didn't realize you had a music player on your page. The volume was turned all the way up and about 3 or 4 seconds into reading the lastest post , all of a sudden Fats Domino was belting out " Ain't that a shame " . Lol.
There is always some surprise here Gill!
Have a great Weekend!
Blessings, Ella

Hi Gil, I'm in Ontario but we don't have a Zehr's nearby. I do shop at Loblaws and No Frills which are the same company as Zehr's, do you know if those would be acceptable?

I can't believe these people are using your pictures! Good thing you "caught" them. I agree, the nerve of some people!

I hadn't even realized it was March break because our break at university was the second week of Feb. Not that it matters to me since I'm working full-time anyway...

Ooops, I had two pages open and I think I commented on the wrong one... the previous comment was related to the closet pics and the nerve of some people.

Okay, what a way to comment here for the first time!

We don't have Zehrs in Ottawa... mmm, I wonder if we have any similar store now.
