I am tired........

Tuesday was all go for me.  I left the house at 9 am and didn't arrive home until 3 pm.  Got a couple of jobs done though, so that was good.

Had a visit to our family doctor and again came to the conclusion he is a pill pushing doctor.  If in doubt he give's you pills.  Do you have a family doctor like that?  I was his first appointment after the lunch hour and he was 20 minutes late {{{SIGH}}}  Was it time well spent at the doctors............no and I can see a visit in the future to him again with the same problem.  Meanwhile I'll do what he says for the next month and go from there.

I did manage to get an hour in the garden when I got home weeding one flower bed, so that was also a good job, jobbed as I always say.  

Did some sewing after supper and was not at all happy with the results {{{SIGH}}}

So I am going to wrap up Tuesday in a small package and say goodbye to it and welcome Wednesday with new eyes and refreshed attitude..................

Blogger and other things..

Some of you were saying you had trouble accessing my blog.  I have no idea what has been going on, but have also been having trouble using my "dashboard," on Blogger as well.  I hope things have calmed down and any problem has gone?

Time seems to have been slipping away from me over these past few days, which means I haven't had a chance to pop by your blogs.  I hope things calm down soon and I can get back to visiting you all again.

Dh took Monday off and we went out and about to get some fresh air; he's had a horrible headache, so thought some fresh air would help.  We ended up going to a place called English and Miller for lunch.  If you click on the link you can see what they sell; they have an online store, and the cafe menu.

We both decided to have a ploughman's lunch; as we haven't had one in a long time.

Now mine is also a ploughman's minus the Branston pickle (icky) and Stilton cheese (even more ickier!!)  I ate the grapes before I remembered to take a photo.  I am a picky eater.
Everything was very tasty.  You get your tea served on china cups and saucers and there was a choice of teas.  It wasn't cheap but made a lovely change.  Also they do an afternoon tea but you have to order it in advance.  They are in Barrie right on the waterfront and it's a lovely area; when it's not blowing a gale and is bloody freezing cold!!!  Just along the way from here; you could walk to it if you want is a restaurant The Farmhouse, that is also good and well worth a visit.  One neat thing about The Farmhouse, they serve their salads in Mason Jars (jam jars).

Been busy

so haven't time to visit your blogs, or to do a full post.  Things should be a lot quieter come Sunday, I hope!

I haven't posted sooner..........I have no idea where the last few days have gone too?

Been busy since I last posted.

Saturday: spent most of the day down at dd.  I was doing baby shower prep stuff for dd, while dd and the guys were hanging doors.

Sunday:  Dh and I ran around doing errands and preventing dh from doing any work down the basement, as his knee was sore from working too hard on Saturday!!

Monday: Dh and I installed the door frames down our basement and put up the doors.  Have a double closet and the door from the main room into the laundry room.  Dh carried on down there doing other stuff and tidying up, while I baked in the afternoon.  Then we both sat down for a bit; I was reading.

Tuesday:  I put the first coat of paint on the walls and then had to pop into town to buy another gallon of paint.

Today: Well I will be heading down the basement to put another coat of paint on the walls and to prime the patio door and window frame as well.

Will say have had a hell of a headache these past few days, but we had a lot of rain yesterday and its humid around here, so that will do it.  I will try and get back into posting again, just want to get this painting over with.

Suffering from "blog burn out"

Not sure if that's the right expression or not, but don't seem to have the same enthusiasm as I normally do for my blog at the moment.  I think it's because I am juggling more "balls" at the moment trying to get a lot of things done in a short time.

I am finding the older I get the faster time flies by.  Also I don't feel as organized as I used to be.  We're on a deadline to have the attic finished by the 16th of May, so we are busy doing things in there every day now, including me.  I am getting to the stage where I will start painting the walls and ceiling.  The goal this week is to get the ceiling painted twice.  I know it doesn't sound a lot but I have work and visitors and other things planned also this week, so fitting in painting is hard. 

I cancelled guests coming for dinner this past weekend as we were so busy, so am not doing that this week.  I don't remember when we last had anyone over to the house, other than the kids.  Then there is the garden, the grass is growing like crazy and I know I could start cutting it if I wanted, but with the price of gas up to $1.369 a litre I am putting it off as long as I can.  I need to spend a week just going through the raspberry patch weeding it.  Never mind weeding all the flower beds and the veggie patch!!

Oh and did I mention the state of the house.  I am sure you can write your name in the dust!!!

My goals for today though are to clean the bathrooms. 

Do a load of laundry.

Go and vote.

Do more work in the attic, still got some primer to put on a couple of places and sand down the baseboards where I filled in the nail holes.  Hopefully get the first coat of paint on the ceiling.

Made a gourmet supper........I am being sarcastic here!!! Got four chicken breasts out of the freezer yesterday, so will cook them and have two for tonight's supper and two for tomorrow nights supper.

Got a couple of phone calls to make.

Try and clean some of the house.

Plant the cotoneasters.........though I already know that won't happen!!

Plus a hundred and one other things that need doing.

So all in all I am feeling a tad overwhelmed at the moment and the blog is being neglected because of it.  Do you get days/weeks like that?

Still busy, still have a headache and still varnishing......

Today will be my last day of varnishing for a few days, so I am guessing my headache should go after I have done that?

I was lucky yesterday that it was warm enough, though still jacket weather, that I could open the windows while varnishing.  Not sure about today though, as we were forecast for snow and rain.  Mind you as I am writing this at 7am neither has happened.......

Just found out something interesting, do you know what the deadliest creature is the humans, what kills more humans per year?  Mosquito's, they kill around 2 million people per year.

I thought I was relatively safe, as most of these creatures are in Africa or Asia, but we do get mosquito's over here.  Mind you I don't think they carry the same diseases as they do in other countries, although people have died of West Nile Virus  here in Canada, which they caught via mosquito's.

Busy, busy and a fun video

It's a case of not enough hours in the day at the moment.  I am busy varnishing the banister and handrails on the new stairs.  Which in turn is aggravating my poor aching head.  I have opened a window while doing it, but it's still pretty cold up here, so can only have them open for so long.

I made a couple of shepherd's pies for the freezer yesterday, as ground beef/mince was on sale, plus I had some potatoes that needed using up.

Bit of good news dd got her job permanently after being on contract for nearly a year.  So she now has job security which is good, and in turn it means more money which is always handy.

Funny story about Molly and a squirrel.  Molly was on the back deck when a squirrel was on the railing with a big piece of bread.  It stopped in its tracks when it saw Molly and for a moment there was a bit of a "stare off."  Then the squirrel realized it was only Molly and started to eat it's piece of bread again.  Meanwhile Molly thought she would be sneaky and step one paw at a time closer to the squirrel.  Everytime she did that, the squirrel looked up and again decided it's only Molly.  However when Molly got quite close the squirrel had enough and off it went, with Molly still sitting there.

Not sure if Molly would know what to do with a squirrel if she caught one?  She was limping earlier in the week, no idea what she did with her back paw, but she seems fine now.

I used to work out to Richard Simmons video's all the time.  He has now done an air safety video for Air New Zealand.  Now if you are like me when on board a flight worrying about other things, I tend to get distracted when they are doing the boring air safety directions.  If they played this it would certainly have my attention.

As I said I have been super busy and by nightfall I am pooped.

I am still chopping up the wood for the fire.  We have friends coming on Saturday so that has given me a kick in the butt to get things tidied up  around here!!  I am cross stitching some Christmas Cards on a night now.....I know last minute, so all in all I am super busy.

So sorry if I haven't visited your blog, hoping to make time to do that soon!

Buddy Friday - Homemade and home grown is the best....

I mentioned the other day that my dad had made me a set of book shelves from some old barn board we had on the property. I finally got them varnished, I put three coats on them and they look smashing.

So on Thursday I set about filling them. This is what they looked like before I started to fill them up:

This is the side of them, my dad made them fancy.

This is my best friend "Dolly," without her I wouldn't have been able to cart all the books up from the basement. "Dolly," is my second best friend after the lawn tractor and trailer.

I had seven boxes of books to unpack.

Here is the after, all my books neatly sorted. I even unpacked a box of ornaments, and put some on the top shelf.

I dug up a potato top for supper and picked some more raspberries, I make mini Pavlova's with them, using individual meringue bases, raspberries and fresh cream.........they are yummy!!

So basically what I am saying I am lucky to have a dad who can build such lovely furniture and I am lucky I can go into the garden and harvest such lovely fruit and vegetables.

What a dirty icky job and other stuff.....

So on Monday morning I got up bright and early and went into the attic to remove 45 garbage bags of plaster out of there. Believe me I counted everyone. I wasn't perspiring, nor was I sweating, water was pouring out of me like a tap!!! I swear if I don't lose any weight with all this exercise I am going to be royally ticked. I hauled the bags down to the bottom of the attic stairs and stacked some there, then hauled them down the main stairs and out onto the front deck. It took me around two hours or so to do this, and then I had to tidy up, as despite my best efforts I still made a mess. It is a dirty icky job and I know Carol will totally agree with me on that. We cannot haul it out of the window, as the roof is in the way, so this is the best and fastest option.

I then remembered to take some photos, for a change!!!

So the first one, is of the stairs. They actually look rather nice in the photo but they are very narrow and are damaged. I might put an ad in the newspaper to see if anyone wants them, when we get rid of them.

As you can see it is a nice high roof, that dh still has to strip the knee wall. We are saving the baseboard/skirting board to reuse again.

The piece of plaster left in the ceiling is the only electric/light source, so until dh wires up the place we need to leave it in.

This one shows you where the dormer window is at.


We are going to put a skylight in above the area, where the plastic is, as the roof has been repaired with a couple pieces of tin there, so that will get rid of them.

Finally this is a photo of all the bags sitting on the front deck.

The goal is to have the rest of the plaster stripped off, removed, and all the old insulation removed by the end of the week. Dh has Thursday and Friday off which will hopefully help, although he is still in an awful lot of pain with his shoulder and elbow.

We had a guy over Monday to give us a quote on putting the skylight in, repairs to the roof and to insulate the attic. We had met him at the home show back in February/March. The company he works for seems okay, so we'll see what happens when we get the quote from him.

I got the bill in Monday for the internet, and if I wasn't confused before I am now. As per the leaflet on the charges, I should have been charged at least $50, plus various other charges, so it would have probably come to around $70+ I got billed less than $25, why I have no idea. I of course will not be calling them to find out why, but I will say Bell Canada has me totally confused?

I also managed to get Kamakazie Hill cut on Monday, and it only took me 2 1/2 hours, the fastest yet. I am still not 100% happy cutting it, but its getting easier for me.

So all in all Monday was a super busy day.

Catching up again, more on the house......

It's been a busy few days with hardly time to breathe.

Tuesday I had visitors from England, so that day just flew by. Plus we had a viewing on the house.

Monday was another busy day, with another viewing on the house.

So that makes ten people who have viewed the house but no offers yet. The house went on the market on the 12th of February, so it has now been two weeks. Still trying to remain optimistic, but will say there is a nagging doubt in the back of my mind, with a what if.......

So I have been too busy to visit anyone's blog. For that I must apologise. This house selling business seems to have consumed my whole life. We have until the end of March to sell our house, so still have a few weeks to go. As I am writing this on Wednesday, I am trying to prepare some posts for the blog, to try and catch up.
