How are you doing with the Daily Savings Club?

We are now into day 8 of this challenge, so depending on how much you are saving per day, you could have $2 saved up, if you're doing the 25 cents per day.  Or up to $8 if you are saving $1 per day like I am.  I hope you will continue on with this?

I am still doing the pantry challenge, though mine is more like a freezer challenge.  I have been using up things more in the freezer, rather than the pantry.  I still haven't got around to doing a menu plan yet, I keep saying I am going to do it and never do it!!

Here are a couple more links to help both you and me planning recipes.

Had another busy day at work on Thursday.  Once again the day just flew by and the phones were busy as well.  I basically do everything in an office, like accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, answering phones, and everything else in between.  I DO NOT MAKE COFFEE THOUGH!!!  My boss has figured it is easier and less aggravting just to make the coffee himself, than get me to do it...LOL

I also had a special project to do on Thursday reconciling an account, and sorting some financial things out.......that's my speciality...I suck at making coffee but I am good with numbers!!!!

Did you remember to put your money in your pot for the daily savings club?

Today's money saving tip:

Make a quadruple batch of a casserole. Casseroles are nice, easy dishes to prepare, but on busy nights, it’s often still easier to just order some take-out or eat out or just plop a prepackaged meal in the oven. Instead, the next time you make a casserole, make four batches of it and put the other three in the freezer. Then, the next time you need a quick meal for the family, grab one of those batches and just heat it up – easy as can be. Even better, doing this allows you to buy the ingredients in bulk, making each casserole cheaper than it would be ordinarily – and far, far cheaper than eating out or trying a prepackaged meal.

I just found this article and thought it was interesting: How to make a casserole with what you have on hand

I love your tips..though they are all how I was brought up! It amazine me though how many people weren't and I often have the argument that it is far cheaper over here to cook from fresh than to buy processed. That is just over here though..I myself was amazed that in some countries processed is cheaper and eating out is cheaper! Love the blog..you learn loads lol

Gill I have put my money in my tin each day. I emptied my change from my wallet into a small plate on my desk so each day I take from that which also acts as a reminder for me.

I have yet to start the kids tins but will get on to that this week I hope.

Love your tips!Tahnks for sharing!
I don't put so much change per day in, each trip out we pay cash and save the coins, adds up fast!
I cook ahead and freeze, right now the freezer is so stocked no room, we're debating on should we invest in another freezer.
Stay warm and cozy!

Good for you! Let him make his own coffee! Did you ever see the movie "Nine to Five?" With Dolly what's-her-name. What a hoot!

Too cold to get out. Can't spend anything except gas ans electric for heat! The weather service said it was -0 degrees this morning. Don't know what the minus was about, but it was every bit of 0. I think it was easier when I lived further north and we just stayed cold all winter.

Thanks for the savings reminder - loonies, twonies and other change have been tossed into a container whenever I come back from shopping - $9.34 so far!

On the pantry challenge front, an inventory has been taken of the freezers and cupboards and quite frankly it was shocking to find out how much food is actually in the house.

However, I strayed from the shop-at-home-first directive, as a friend and I had a day trip and did a bit of cross-border grocery shopping for items we can't get here, or are cheaper State-side. But at least now I know what we have to work with and will be shopping from home for the foreseeable future.

You've started a cooking-from-the-pantry spree in my local community, with a handful of ladies joining in.

Cheers,
Christine
