Buddy Friday - Sharing

I have an over abundance of raspberries and due to my allergies, and the rotten weather I haven't wanted to spend every waking moment out there picking them. So rather than the birds have them, I decided to share with family, friends and neighbours. It has proved to have given me more than I had ever expected.

I have made a number of new friends and acquaintances; one lady in particular will become a firm and close friend I am sure as we "clicked" right away. One neighbour came over with a dozen brown farm eggs........yum, yum in exchange for some raspberries. Another neighbour brought me some seeds from her poppies. One couple will be making raspberry jam for the first time in years, as they find it too expensive to buy raspberries from the store. I could go on and on, but you get the gist. These raspberries have proved to be a blessing.

So if you have an over abundance of something share with others, as sharing pays you back ten fold. I for one get more please out of giving than receiving. How about you?

I made this cake on Thursday with some raspberries, Very Berry Summer Cake

I've never given raspberries a thought, and now I hear about them all the time. Got to look for some. At least, some jam from the store. DH has started blackberries. Maybe we could do raspberries, too. Thanks for the recipes!

Sounds so familiar, I have shared our overabundance for years, Wish you were closer so I could get some of your runners as I lost my Whole raspberry patch, strawnerry beds as well as blueberry and currant bushes in the drought. Unfortunately most people I shared my plants with lost theirs as well.

This is the type of arrangement I have with a neighbour. She cannot pick her strawberries, raspberries and peas this year, so she asked if I would. I go to her house every 2 days to harvest. I am getting so much for preserving for winter, and her garden is still being utlized, so she feels good about it. Arent' people wonderful when they come together and share?

And that's what country living is all about. Although you can certainly do it in the city as well, there is just something about country that makes is special. Hugs!!

Oh, I wish we lived somewhere near you! Raspberries are my absolute favourite thing!!
And you're right about the rain -- it's seemingly never-ending. This is quickly turning into the summer that wasn't!!

Sharing is what helps build a community and gives us the opportunity to make new friends. It never ceases to amaze me just how kind folk are.
