Me and my girls........

Our Little Munchkin and her boyfriend Owen, who is 14 months old.
Our little Munchkin eating a banana, this was the after picture.  By the way those two bottom teeth are razor sharp; how do I know, she sunk her teeth into my foot, just because I wasn't paying enough attention to her the other day!
Me and my girls on Saturday.  I take a dreadful photo this was the best of the bunch.......
We had a mini housewarming party and we were gifted 8 gorgeous water glasses and 4 red wine and 4 white wine glasses by the family.

Knitted Baby Clothes

My mam sent dd some baby clothes over and a number of them were hand knitted.  My mother used to knit a lot, but due to the arthritis in her hands, she can't do it anymore.  She purchased these items and they are gorgeous.  I wish I could knit.  Please excuse the lack of light in the photos the weather is very over cast and miserable today.

This is my favourite piece a gorgeous white Matinee jacket for a newborn.

A lovely little pink knitted hat.
A cream cardigan, to fit probably 3 months on wards in cream.
A gorgeous lilac cardigan again from 3 months on.

Another knitted hat.

A close up of the detail.  I have no idea how on earth they "knitted" that ribbon in amongst the wool?
Even the top of the hat is lovely.
Then just to remind everyone this baby has British roots a t-shirt.
Just over 8 weeks to go now until we meet our little Sweet Pea.  Which reminds me, haven't heard from our little Princess and her family in a few days, must email them.  They too will be back in another four weeks or so.

The Baby Shower

Sorry for not being about the last few days, but we had the baby shower on Saturday and I was busy in the lead up to the shower and plain bloody exhausted the day after!!!

Anyhow it went off without a hitch and dd loved it.  The theme of the shower was "Sugar and Spice."
Dd  mother-in-law is the Principal of a private school so we used one of the rooms at the school.  Here is a photo of the food.
Dd best friend who was the creative genius behind the shower, also made the cake.  I did most of the sweet things, and dd mother-in-law did most of the savory things.
Dd best friend also made the three diaper cakes.  They were stunning.  On this table also was the Wishes for Baby cards and book.
This is the "wishes for baby" cards that you fill in and they go into the pink book above.  Its a lovely keepsake and the pages were made using a Cricut.

Here is the table with the favours on it.
Inside the boxes were a sugar cookie (you can sort of see a couple at the side of the photo) which dd best friend made, along with Butter Chicken spice mix and recipe for the butter chicken.  Hence the sugar and spice theme. Our little Princess' mother put the spice mix together and we used her recipe for the chicken.  I should post the recipe as everyone loves it........well except me as I don't like anything with spice in it.
On this table you can see three of the prizes.  Also the Price is Right game, where you had to guess the total price of the various items.  Ds girlfriend won that game.

Here we had the diaper changing game.  The doll on the far right is Annabelle and she will be 47 years old next March; yes she is my doll.  My cousin's daughter got second prize in that game.  My step-mother won another of the prizes and my niece won another prize......and no it wasn't fixed!!!
In the centre of the tables were these flower arrangements along with two dishes of candy.  For the spice red hot tamales, and for the sugar chocolates.
This was another of the interesting facts that was framed on some of the tables.
Dd got so many gifts it was over whelming I think.  The baby will not need any clothes for the first six months of her life.  She is a very lucky little girl.  We had around 40 people there which was nice and I think from what I could gather everyone had a good time.  So all we have to do now is wait for our little Sweet pea to pop out and pray and hope she is a she, otherwise if she is a he, he is going to be wearing a lot of pink and purple things for the first six months of his life!!!!

I did manage to get the quilt finished.
I also got a pillow made out of the scraps.
I still have the crib skirt to do and a tab top valance for the nursery.  Does anyone have a link to an easy pattern for a tab top valance?

A couple of Nursery photos.

Wanted to share with you a couple of photos of the nursery.  It's painted three walls grey and one wall pale pink.  The main feature on one wall is this tree decal.  Isn't it neat?  Dd bought it from an Etsy Store called Secret of the Cat they have lots of neat options on the site. In real life the tree is dark grey with bright pink birds, with paler pink wings, yellow beaks and feet.

It's a vinyl decal, that can be removed from the wall and was pretty simple to install.  As it was shipped from Chile, dd ended up paying an extra $20 for customs and duty.  I think it was well worth the money and is an outstanding feature in the room.  It is also not too baby-ish and will grow with Our Little Sweet Pea.
I'll share with you more photos when I have got all the sewing completed.

A rambling sort of post, there might be something of interest in there for you?

Finally some cooler weather, just glorious and now I can sleep better.  Poor dh though was huddled under the covers; I think his blanket will be appearing on the bed shortly though; no doubt Jane's will too, they're twins.  Roll on the weather being a bit cooler in the day as well.

All over the news for us, part of the famous St. Jacobs market burnt to the ground early Monday morning.
You can read more about the story here thanks also to them for the photo.  Anyone in the south west of Ontario this was a great place to go and if you had visitors visiting you would take them there for a day out.  Such a shame, and a lot of people lost their jobs.

Today I MUST clean the house.  I am going to be trapped and eaten by a spider as the cobwebs are getting that thick!!!  I will report back if I actually do clean the house; if you don't hear anything I failed AGAIN!!

Good news the Red Cardinal has finally given up fighting itself in our window; only taken him a couple of months to realize it was his reflection.

Only 13 more weeks until dd has the baby.  Must make a mental note to myself to stop buying the baby clothes.  Our Little Sweetpea is going to have more clothes than she can wear.  This was the latest onesie I bought.  It was only $3 so I couldn't resist.

Haven't heard from Our Little Princess and her family; hope to hear from them this week.

Finally I have started Christmas Shopping, by picking up some stocking stuffers.  Late getting started this year!!

There you go a post about nothing really.

Do I make a blue baby quilt or a pink baby quilt for dd.........

It's going to be a pink baby quilt.  I of course was one of the ones who thought she was having a boy.  Mind I always say it's going to be a boy; knowing I will be either 50% right or wrong!  As we already have Our Little Princess, this one will be Our Little Sweet Pea for the time being.

I had my monthly quilt club meeting, so called into the grocery store on the way home.  I got this little lot and it was "a little."
That cost me $56.26.  I used $22.33 in coupons, so it would normally have cost $78.59, which is just flipping crazy.

I got the following:
2 x packages of crackers 2 for $4 - $1 coupon
2 x packages of granola bars 2 for $4 - $1 coupon
1 x box cereal $3 - $1 coupon
1 x package licorice $2.69
2 x Glade air fresheners 2 @ $5.99 each - $5 coupon when you spend $10
1 x Glade car air freshener (had free product coupon)
1 x 4 litre milk  $3.99
8 pack Activia yogurt $2.99
1 x large tub yogurt $1.99
1 x Old El Paso Dinner Kit $4.59 (had free product coupon)
1 x 450 gram Barilla Pasta $1.69 - 75 cent coupon
2 x Ripple Chips  @ $1 each
3 x 500 gram bars of cheese @ $3.66 each
1 x Maple Leaf portion pack bacon $3.99 - $2 coupon
1 x Always pads $3.99
1 x Old Spice deodorant $3.99 - $2 coupon
1 x six pack Old Spice soap $4.79 - $2 coupon

I paid an additional $4.94 in taxes as well.  As you can see there are no fruit or vegetables in there.  Other than the bacon no meat.  I have stocked up on cheese which is good.  You do not get a lot for your money nowadays do you?

A you a picky eater...........

I had seven points.  Celery, sardines, oysters, snails, blue cheese, raisins and grits.  If they were part of a dish and hidden for exampl...
