Good Morning

I did a double take when I first looked out of the window this morning, I honestly thought we had, had snow.  It was only a hard frost but all the rooftops were white, but even the frost on the park was a lot.  The clouds in the sky were also interesting this morning as well.  It was -3 oC when I took this photo, and will get up to 8 oC as a high today.  A lot different from the 30 oC temperatures we were experiencing a week or two ago!!

I only have some touch ups to do in the bathroom.  However hubby has some more work to do on the shower.  The shower has to have all the silicone redone; which was a job we were not expecting to do.  As he is still working full time, this will take him the rest of the week to get done.

Luckily we have another full bathroom in our basement, so can shower down there.  Popping out to Home Depot this morning to pick up this:

The shower has to be clean of soap scum so the silicone will stick.  This one is a bit pricy at over $14 but we are hoping it will work.

Another busy day again for me, but at least the painting is all done.  I will share photos when I have everything put back together.

Thought I'd pop in to say hello!

 

I am in between coats of paint in the bathroom.  I am getting on like a house on fire.  

Bathrooms are fiddly rooms to paint aren't they?  It took me ages just to tape everything.  That step makes it a lot easier in the long run.  I will have two coats of paint put on the walls today.  May get two coats of paint on the trim tomorrow.  At the most I will be done by Wednesday afternoon.  Then it will be just a case of putting everything back together.  Not having to paint the ceiling is a huge bonus.  Plus we fixed all the nails pops etc. in the room when I decorated last time.  So this is basically just a refresh this time round.

This is turning out to be a perfect week also to do this as it is cool and dreary, so no gardening for me.

I am also plugging away at a puzzle.  Picked it up at Costco on sale last week, its 1000 pieces:

I put a piece in it every time I pass on by the dining room table.

Well, I had better get on, doing laundry in between everything and a bit of tidying up.  Got a funny story to share with you about my Dyson!!  Which I am loving by the way........will get that posted in the next day or two.

Well I didn't think that through.........

I was out and about earlier in the week and stopped in at Homesense and bought this lovely shower curtain.  

I love the colours and the print.

So warm and bright.

BUT; it doesn't really go with the paint on the walls in the bathroom.  So I am going to have to paint the bathroom 😕  Huh, guess I didn't think that one through.......more work 😉

One year later (before and after photos)

and I am still happy with our decision.

I wasn't happy with the kitchen cabinets, BUT there was nothing actually wrong with them other than them being oak and it dating the house.  Plus I really couldn't be bothered gutting the whole kitchen to put new ones in.  I neither wanted the mess nor the expense.  So we decided to get a company in to spray/paint the kitchen cabinets.

Not that you can tell from the photos, but the big stand alone unit and the unit around the fridge were added later by the previous owner and are a slightly different colour to the other units.

The company took all our doors and drawer fronts to their workshop and primed and sprayed them there.  They primed and painted the rest of the units in situ and came back and forward once a week for four weeks total.  We bought new handles and so they filled the holes and installed those.

One year on and it's holding up really well.  I did notice a small chip on a drawer we use all the time.  I have nearly a gallon of paint they left me so I just need to touch it up. 

Would I do this again; without a doubt yes.  It cost us I think around $3 thousand Canadian, so a whole lot cheaper than putting in a new kitchen.  As I said there was nothing actually wrong with the cupboards or the layout.   We had put new countertops in a year or two before hand.  The change in colour has brightened up our kitchen considerably.  The colour we chose, was the colour of the year for Sico paints last year. 

I had posted back in 2021 here about how we had our vanity "wrapped" by a company.  I am super happy with how that turned out and again that is holding up great.  I did get that company out to quote us for the kitchen, but I can't stand the guy....LOL  Really I don't like him, he got on my nerves.  So for the sake of my sanity, as I knew this was going to take time I couldn't/wouldn't hire him. 

Some people do this themselves, painting their kitchen units.  Good for them, I just knew I wouldn't do as good a job as the professionals.

The company we used works in our area, and is not a nationwide company.

Your own Special Place........

I think we all have our own special place where we go to think and solve all the worlds problems.  Some people have a comfy chair, other people walk a special route; laying in bed are some people's preferred choice,  Me, well this is my special place:

The shower, I can put the world to right and solve any issue in the shower.  Been doing this for years.  When I was working I came up with more ideas and solutions than ever when I was in the shower.  Not sure what it is about the shower, but it relaxes me, and when it does my brain must start working...LOL

What made me think of this post, was I was thinking about the other day when we had our little Munchkin over.  Dh went to the toilet and Munchkin went to find him.  She can reach the door handle but cannot open the door yet, so was banging on the door for him.  I do not miss those days when you could never use the bathroom without having company joining you.

So today's question is: Where is your special place that you go to solve the world's problems?

For the non-quilters out there, the photo shows me stitching the binding on the quilt.  For the quilters out there, no I did not lose the plot putting bright green binding on it....LOL  It all makes sense, trust me!
