Rocketman is now on Netflix Canada, so we finally got around to watching it the other night. I was a little surprised when we watched it as it wasn't what I was expecting. It reminded me of going to live theatre and watching a musical, more so than watching an actual movie.
You had to feel sorry for Elton, as at the end of the day all he wanted was to be loved. I had no love for his mother, but you could see how close he was to his Nan. It features his life story up until just before he met his husband, David Furnish, which I guess makes sense. As things have settled down a lot in Elton's life since he met him.
If I had to compare the movie with Bohemian Rhapsody, I preferred Bohemian Rhapsody.
Have you seen either of the movies, and if so which one did you prefer?

Have to say I haven't seen Rocketman but did see Bohemian Rhapsody. I say I've seen it but these days I don't watch a lot of telly properly I tend to half watch stuff while I'm on the laptop. It has to be gripping for me to just sit & watch a programme.
I'm doing that with the latest BBC drama Vigil which I am enjoying. Suranne Jones is really good and Shaun Evans is a bit different in this to his role in Endeavour. Trying to decide whether he's a villain! Well one of them.
I was totally disappointed in Rocketman. It just didn't "feel right" to me.
BR was brilliant, the husband even said he enjoyed it. He didn't last through ten minutes of Rocketman
I’ve seen both and loved them both
It’s sad how Eltons mum was. But I was glad his grandmother was there for him
Both stories we fascinating and of course the music if fantastic
I did not see the Queen one BUT the overall reviews - were in favour of Elton's. Esp as the actor who played Elton did his own singing - I think too, Elton's style was very apparent in the way his movie was made. The Queen one had a lot of drama before being made. I did love the Elton one though, I should try and watch the Queen one too!
I've seen both movies. They were both good but Bohemian Rhapsody was my favorite. I love Queen.
Did you feel the big storm last night?
I haven't seen either. Music biopics aren't my thing.
