My first time making curry and basmati rice.
I didn't do the pre-soak and I made brown basmati rice. Found it a little chewy but overall very good.
The recipe for the Red Lentil Vegetable Curry can be found here. I found it quite bland, which is very funny as I don't like anything too spicy or hot; this was neither. I will make this again and will add black pepper and garlic to the recipe.
I had it for the following two nights supper and a lunch. I mixed in the leftover rice and enjoyed the rice much more. I found the flavours developed more over the days and it tasted very good. This recipe will be added into our meal plans now. I gave dh garlic bread with his as I had no naan bread.
Well worth trying if you want a hearty vegetarian meal. Actually I think it is also a Vegan recipe.......

That curry looks yummy. I would have just put a little bit of hot sauce for extra zing but not too much.
Hubby likes psicy. We often find that locally food isn't spicy enough. I'd guess the same is for recipes!
I'm not too fond of spicy foods. My mother would occasionally make rice with curry, but more often when she'd use rice, would make a meal out of milk rice.
I find the taste always is better after a day or so.
I think curry is always better with fresh coriander and ginger root rather than ground ginger.
Madhur Jaffrey's veggie curry recipe is good and quick. http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/mixedvegetablecurry_90225
Love making basmati rice. I find it cooks up properly every time.
That curry looks very tasty.
God bless.
I learned to make assorted curries from my Nanna who was a matron at a girls school in India. I have found that the PATAK brand of curry sauces (in the jars) are VERY good and very similar to our old family recipies.
I’m found some curry past in a packet at Aldi
I have made curried fish with rice
Unfortunately it’s on of those special buys so not alway on the shelves but I did buy a few to put away
By the time I’ve used them hopefully the will be back. There the best pre packaged ones I’ve every had
Yours looks very yummy
Around here the spicier the better! My daughter puts hot sauce on everything!! She's got me hooked now too :)
Try using PATAK brand curry sauces which are available in most grocery stores. They are really good and are rated for "hotness". My Nanna was a matron in a girls school in India and I learned to cook Indian food from her. Great recipies but a lot of work. I find the Patak's are really good!
I've bookmarked the lentil recipe and picked up the items I needed for it yesterday. I'm going to make it tomorrow! It sounds delicious! x
