Beautiful day, cooking and poor Molly........

Sunday was a stunning day.  Started out cool, only 0 oC when I got up, but it got out just lovely with the sun shining.  A perfect day to be alive in my books.  I spent the morning in the kitchen freezing some veggies and making up a couple dishes of roasted veggies.  I had a combination of potatoes, butternut squash, parsnips and onions. I drizzled them with olive oil and seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder.  Got the two butternut squash in the back of the photo chopped up and popped into the freezer for another day.

Popped them in a 400 oF oven for around 45 minutes to an hour. I made a couple of dishes at once, so I only cook once but have enough to eat for a couple of meals.  I just pop them in a Tupperware dish and re-heat them in the microwave.
I also picked up a corn beef brisket and stuck that in the slow cooker and cooked that all day to go with the veggies, along with some wedges of cabbage, that I also stuck in the slow cooker for just over 3 hours.

Molly is not 100% again.  She has been having a really hard time with her allergies.  I gave her a bath a week ago, and decided to bath her again on Sunday to see if it would help her skin.  As you can see this is one of her sore spots. I use a special shampoo that I got from the vets on her.
Dh thinks her back end is also getting a lot thinner and she doesn't have the same perkiness she used to have.  I disagree but to be on the safe side I think I will try and get into the vets later on in the week.  We do have to board her for a couple of nights when the wedding is on, so I need to get the kennel cough jab for her, so it will kill two birds with one stone and not cost me for a double visit.

When I mention the "W" word.....walkies......she seems perky enough too me!!!

The veggies look so tasty. Roasted veg is one of my favourite things to eat. I hope Molly is ok.

My vet calls those "hot spots." Poor Pup she can be so miserable with them. I found that a product called "Veterinary's Best" hot spot treatment is the very best. It calms the spot and my dogs stop scratching. It has some tea tree oil in it which I don't like the smell of but pup and I both get use to it. Hot spot is also now a foam instead of liquid so makes it much easier to apply. Hope this helps. You might be able to order it on line if you can't find it in your pet stores. My dog had a fairly large spot and over time all the hair grew back in. I put it on once a day at first then every other day and so on. Until the spot is healed.

Poor Molly -- she looks sore and itchy. I remember going through all that with my Tessie -- it is so frustrating that they can't tell you how they feel. I hope she is better soon. Your roasted veggies look fabulous!

So sorry to see Molly having a hard time again. DearDog still loves his walks, too, but the rest of the time he is limping from the arthritis. The vet is holding off on a higher dose of Rimadyl with winter coming on. The cooler weather is already getting to him. Guess you're counting down to the wedding now! ~Liz

Poor Molly, hope she feels better soon.

I roast all my veggies these days but never thought about putting them in the freezer, I don't know why. I need to do some ahead meals this week as I have an English friend visiting for a couple of weeks next week, and I certainly don't want to spend too much time in the kitchen. Thanks for the ideas.

Poor Molly--I feel bad for her and you. It is awful having a sick pet.

Your food looks delicious, as usual.

Oh, I meant to thank you before now for my crockpot cookbook...I need to try some of the recipes in there.

Those veggies sure do look tasty!

I hope poor Molly feels better soon! It must be the ragweed getting to her.

Gill: Here is a sure fired remedy for Molly's problem that will save you from a huge Vet bill: Go to your drugstore and purchase a bottle of Witchhazel and a tube of Hydrocortisone Cream USP, 0.5% With Aloe, total of both should be around the $10.00 mark. Use the Witchhazel to cleanse and sooth the spot, then apply the cream as often as you are able to inbetween her licking it off. You should see a positive result in a few days to a week. Please let me know how you make out. Work extremely well for me on Bandit last year.

Looking at molly's rash it looks like what one of our rotties got, we finally figured out she was allergic to plastic and rubber and corn as soon as we took her toys away and changed her to a metal bowl she cleared right up

Take Molly to the vet! Do not wait, might be something that needs immediate care. :( Learned this through trial, and most importantly, error. As for the meal - yum! Baked/roasted potatoes <3 Fave!
