A couple of milestones, forward for recipe book, a warning and SHE

A couple of milestones I had forgotten about.  This is my 1001st post, not bad for just over two years.  Also we arrived in Canada 21 years ago yesterday, I had forgotten about that.  Gosh time flies by when you're having fun!!  And talking about time flying by, it's the end of May today, where on earth has this year gone too, we are nearly half way through it?

This is the forward I have written for the recipe book.  Any suggestions/changes you think I should make would be greatly received.

“Food is our common ground, a universal experience.” James Beard (1903-1985)

So taking that idea on board, and to celebrate the coming together/association of the three churches, St. Luke’s Rosemont, St. David’s Everett and Christ Church Whitfield, this recipe book was created.

Food is a bit like the weather, everyone always has advice or thoughts about it. Also it is another well known fact the ladies and gentlemen of the church groups always have great recipes. This recipe book would not have come together without the contributions of all the parishioners; so a big thank you to them all for kindly sharing their favourite recipes.

It is a well known fact that the heart of the home has always been the kitchen where friends and family gather for a home cooked meal, and fellowship. It is our wish that everyone who purchases one of these recipe books will take the time with family and friends to try some of these recipes together and enjoy one another’s company.

With that in mind:

Dear Lord;

We thank you for this day,

We thank you for this meal,

And we thank you for one another.

Amen

The Recipe Book Committee

SHE - Sustainable Health Enterprises  I first read about this over at Toria's blog, she has a full post about this that I think we should all pop by and read, it will make you grateful for what we have access to.

DO YOU EAT CADBURY'S CHOCOLATE?

We were raised on CADBURY'S chocolate as kids and even into adulthood but I will never eat it again!!

I hope from now on you will throw yours away whenever you are given any.

It seems as though nothing is safe to eat anymore..

This is what happens when you eat Cadbury's chocolate!

THIS IS A MEDICAL WARNING!

It could happen to you, your family and friends!

CADBURY'S chocolate can cause SMALL FEET!

I know Tracey, I forgot to tell you I had taken a photo of us the other day!! (inside joke!)

Of course you can join in, lol. All it takes is backing away from the puter more often . . . your time is what you make of it. Quite liberating once you get the hang of it really. =)

Book is sounding great, you must feel a great sense of accomplishment pulling it all together.

I love my computer, but sometimes it takes over my life and I have to get to the garden to remember exactly who I am! I made a baked zucchini yesterday that was WONDERFUL rather than play on the puter board! I took a biggish (they will hide, doggone it) zucchini (corgette)and cut it into 8 long sticks...I took a bag of salad croutons flavored onion and garlic and tossed them into the food processer to make crumbs...then I beat two eggwhites with three teaspoons of fat free milk, dipped the sticks first in the crumbs, then in the eggwash, then back in the crumbs. I laid each stick onto a cookie sheet that I had lightly sprayed with olive oil and baked them at 400 degrees for 25 minutes...ate them with spagetti...WOW...they were wonderful!!! I made sure to get some spagetti sauce on them, lol! Can't wait for the cookbook to go on sale, cause you know I am going to want one!!!
hugs

Oh my goodness !
I was watching the hypnotist Paul Mc Kenna train people to conquer their cravings - chocolate high on the list ( one girl drank 4 litres of coke EVERY day & he cured her )

Yes I did have to wash one of my chickens...I'll be posting about it later !

Congratulationa on all your milestones !

can you image how gassy someone would be drinking 4 litres of coke every day?

I thought I looked good in the leopard print, but I guess not?

My word, that's almost enough to make me never want to eat chocolate again...almost ;o) All things in moderation.

As for the foreword, I think it looks lovely the way it is :o)

Gill, I loved the forward for the cookbook, and was "feeling the love" from the forward and then I saw the picture--THANKS for giving me a pretty good laugh as I was eating an ice cream fudge bar!! I hope your week is off to a good start!!

You used " a well known fact" twice very close together. I'd reword the first instance to say something like "It is a well known fact that the best recipes come from church members/groups." Don't use "another" the first time you mention something.

For the second instance, I'd rephrase it to leave out the first 7 words. Maybe "We believe the heart of the home is the kitchen, where friends.... etc."

The rest of it reads smoothly and shows lots of warmth.

Just my humble opinion!
