Today's Flower......

We have this old tree in the garden, and at this time of year it is covered in blossoms.  No idea what sort of tree it is, it doesn't bear fruit, but as long as I can keep killing the caterpiller nests, it will be lovely. Click on the photo to get a better look at it.

It was blowing a gale force wind when I took these shots.
They are pretty flowers though, aren't they?

They look like apple blossoms. There is a variety that doesn't bear fruit but I forget it's name.

It looks like a crabapple blossom to me.

I don't think crabapples are much good for eating although I have heard of crabapple jam.

Great photos Gill, I absolutely love those blossom trees. I haven't found any of those nests so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes, I was going to say a form of apple, some only fruit if they are near another of the right variety to 'fertilize' it, maybe its companion got lost! We planted some here and had to check that. Lovely garden coming there Gill, hard work thats worth it.

What a lovely tree! The others are right, it is a crab apple tree, we had some in our one of our backyards. I've always wanted to get married in early May so I could have my picture taken under one in my wedding dress :o)

It's crab apple. Makes the best jelly, if it ever produces for you.
