Long weekend..........

Had a great long weekend. The weather was perfect. Had family over on Sunday. Managed to get some jobs done. Well done to dh for getting some of the logs stacked. I did help a little, but it's too hard on my back and hands.

It was also not too windy today so I managed to get the fire pit cleaned up and did some edging around that area as well.  The tree that looks dead is a transplant from another part of the property.  Fingers crossed it will spring to life in the Spring?

Made another 2 dozen jars of raspberry jam on Tuesday morning.  Skipped work this week to make jam.  All in all  it took me two hours to pick the raspberries and just over an hour and a half to make the jam.  I only need make another 2 dozen jars and then I should be done the wedding jam.  I will then start on making jam for ourselves and freezing the best raspberries.  It really is a bumper crop this year, so someone must be smiling down on me.

Would you believe I haven't cut the grass in well over two weeks.  The weather has been so hot and humid that I won't go out in it.  Yes, the grass could really do with cutting but it's going to have to wait until it gets a little cooler.

Got an email from the town and there is a total fire ban in our area, as everything is so dry.  I do have stuff on the firepit, but am in no great hurry to burn it.  I don't think the fire department would appreciate another call out to The Acreage!!!!!

In the garden again...............

We have a robin's nest in the front tree.  I guess they thought the tree in the back by the deck was too noisy for them this year; what with all the squirrels, chipmunks and Molly running around.  Dh was just saying the other night, how fat all the squirrels are around our place!!  As I said they are well fed........

One of the jobs I did on Tuesday was to trim some trees which resulted in me having a huge pile of branches on the firepit.  As yet I haven't got the emerald cedars planted.  That I am hoping is Wednesday's job.

I ended up trimming more bushes and trimming off the shoots that grow off the side of trees.  I also trimmed the old lilac bush as well, as I had hardly any flowers this year, so maybe a haircut will do it good.

The only problem with having a fire is that you end up stinking of smoke.  So I am sitting here thinking I must go for a shower, as I can smell is smoke!!

Got the rest of the potatoes weeded, but that was it for the weeding.  There is just too many jobs to do in the gaarden and not enough time in the day.........everything will get done all in good time I guess.

It's short and sweet tonights post, as I am  tired!!
