New table

Our family is growing and will continue to grow and so we have outgrown our dining room table.  We brought our old one with us from Britain  over 22 years ago and because it is solid pine it is still going strong and will continue to for a long time.  However as it is only five feet long and very narrow we wanted a big farmhouse style one for our farmhouse style kitchen.

We found a store in Stayner called Billy Hill Pine  They have a lot of unfinished pine furniture but also a lot of finished stuff as well.  We (dh) decided to pop in again a week or so ago and check out the tables again.  When we went in the owner was in the store, a really nice guy and we got talking and we got a great deal on the table and two end chairs and delivery.

We basically only paid for the table and got the chairs and delivery thrown in free as they were all floor models.  The brown wood chairs are ours from our old set.  Dd wants our old table and chairs when she gets a house of their own, they are renting a condo at the moment.  So I will wait to get matching black distressed side chairs until she takes the old set.  The table is a little big, a seven foot long one would have been better this one is 8 feet long, but I am really pleased with the look and it is perfect for the kitchen.

I will say if you do decide to visit the store, negotiate with them as they will move on their prices.  There is also a 15% discount coupon on their website, so if nothing else you will get that off your purchase.

Love the table -- and the kitchen. Even though I am a city girl, I have always been a farmhouse girl as well -- love it! We had to buy a bigger table as well and ours looks quite similar to yours and it has worked out well. Enjoy!

Beautiful table!! I love this style... We have a big dining room set as well... When our leaf is open our table will fit at least 9, which is good for our family! :)

Nice table! Have you noticed that Canadian dining chairs sit you lower down/closer to the table top than British ones?

I love your new table! Nothing like a country kitchen with a long pine table...it's what we had growing up, it still sits in my mother's dining room. I'd give nearly anything to have it...maybe Daddy will pass it along to me. Enjoy it!
