A day at the hospital.............
Spent the morning at the hospital with dh. He had key hole surgery on his knee, to wash it out and tidy up the torn cartilage in his knee.
His surgeon missed going to school for bed side etiquette {SIGH} otherwise everything went as well as could be expected. Dh has arthritis in his knees as well, so the goal is to put it off as long as possible getting new knees put in. However if I have to deal with this guy for the next ten plus years, he had better improve his bed side manners, otherwise me and him are going to have words!!!!
It was a big day also for dh, as he lost his "hospital virginity," as this was the first time in his life he has ever had an operation.
Also one of the nurses taught our kids to swim, way back in the day, so it was nice to catch up with her. All the nursing staff were super nice and couldn't fault the way they treated dh.
He had an uncomfortable night last night, but as long as he takes things easy he should recover nicely. Because of dh's job, he should be off work at least for a week; although the surgeon suggested a full two weeks, but then told dh to use his discretion. He hates taking it easy and is always on the go, so this should be torture for both of us trying to keep him still!!!
As per the rest of the family, I shouldn't give up my day job to be a nurse. However so far so good, although I did make major threats to dh last night to sit quiet when I went to cut some grass!!! He was in bed when I got back in as he was pooped from the day and the medication he had taken, Tylenol 3's.
It should be a fun few days until he gets back to normal!!

Not the easiest patients those ones who don't want to stay put and cooperate; then how could a nurse's job be easy with the likes? LOL ... hope he takes the 2nd week should he need it.
Oh I do hope he will listen to you I find men are not very good at that. Knock out pills help:) Good luck and hope for a speedy recovery. B
Gosh, I hope he takes the surgeon's direction (how come we always think we know better than them?) and takes the two weeks. Good luck to you! Perhaps if he thinks of it as a preventive holiday it might help. You know, instead of taking years off sooner than he'd need to if he doesn't rest and heal now.
I hope he doesn't do something to mess up what has been done...my hubby had a surgery and did not listen when young..and he really regretted not taking it easy. It taught him to listen.
The worst ones are the ones who won't do as they're told!
You're going to need a lot of patience.
Hope dh soon recovers.
Wait till he gets his knee replacements lol! I've had both of mine done with nice custom-built titanium knees. Slows one down a bit but not so much as you'd notice amongst the ageing process . He'll get to know his nurses real up close and personal when he gets them done. LOL!
The surgeon must have had a note from his Mam to excuse him the day they covered those social skills. Weird isn't it you'd think it was a compulsory part of the requirement for a surgeon or any doctor for that matter.
A couple of years ago my husband had cancer of the oesophagus & his consultant was fantastic, so gracious & well mannered. a real gentleman. It gives you so much faith in them when they talk to you and explain things.
Hope he recovers quickly!
Remember fluid and fibre are his friends when he's taking T3s and not as active as he usually is! A constipated husband is no joy to be around.
Just remember if the surgeon is a bit lacking in charm, you only have to see him for appointments. Pity the nurses who deal with him on a daily basis.
Good luck to your Hubby and prayers for you that you don't knock him out! Ha He really should follow Dr orders and stay off his feet for the whole 2 weeks
Here's hoping you both spend all your time outside of hospitals now. Wishing a full recovery and a slow-paced finish to the summer!
Wishing a speedy recovery to your husband and stepfather.
