Today's Flower

I am fortunate to have inherited a beautiful Lilac Bush in the new house. I just love Lilac bushes, as much for their fragrance than anything else. I will have to pick a bunch of the flowers to bring into the house.

Lilacs are lovely. We have a small lilac bush called a Korean lilac. It's bloomed and they're all dropped off, I have no idea if it smelled good, since I can no longer smell anything. But I can remember how nice the one my Grandmother use to have smelled. I can also remember how nice peonies smell.

Gill, when you do pick your lovely lilacs, take a hammer and gently pound the botton 2 inches of stem and immediately put into water . Lilacs are apt to wilt otherwise since they are very thirsty plants. Also, replenish their water a couple of times a day, you will notice how quickly they can drain a vase!

Gill, when you pick your splendid lilac, take a hammer and carefully pound the last 2" of stem to open the fibres and place immediately in lots of water. It will thus not have the tendency to wild and have a much better chance of absorbing water. Lilac is wery thirsty and needs the water replenished regularle. It is amazing how quickly it can drain a vase.

I love lilac too! Mine is white - I also inherited it. Your pink one here is beautiful.
I've been away the whole month of May and have caught up a little on your move. I know you're glad to be in your new home. Just take it one day at a time and remember to rest. :)
