If you asked me what my mood was at the moment it would be annoyed. I am annoyed with our condo board and it's stupid rules and regulations. There is nothing we can do about it, but it has certainly made up our mind that as soon as dh retires we are moving. Dh will not be retiring for a little while yet, anywhere between three and seven years but move we will, back into the countryside! They still haven't said anything about the no dog signs but I can see that coming soon.
Finally a Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there today. We will be having our Mother's Day get together next Saturday.

On Tues if you take a look at ABC WED you will see all the rocks in our newly designed front yard. So many people down here have rocks instead of grass because of the heat and the water shortage. I won't tell you what these rocks cost us, but you would have a fit!
Body corporates we call them here and yes they are a huge pain. More trouble than they are worth. I don't know about rocks as the ones I got years ago I took as they were going to get thrown out.

Agreed fully regarding rocks. It's a bit like paying more for bottled water than wine or milk! If you're in the third world with poor water quality I get it but not in the first world.
I've always found condo boards to be rather petty and vicious with people with too much time on their hands running them.
I would not pay for rocks for the garden because they are everywhere here. Definitely too frugal to pay for them. lol

Happy Mother's Day! I think if you just ask the builders for some rocks they'd be happy to let you sort through them and take some home with you.
Our first home was in a gated community with a board. Lots of rules but since only about 20 year round residents and every property was heavily forested and at least 1.3 acres they weren't too bad about things like clotheslines, etc. You did have to get approval to paint your house a different color and they wouldn't let you cut down trees however.
Still we vowed never again to live in a HOA community.
If you need rocks..get them from us!

I hate that things are not good with where you live...I just don't even know what to say. I guess places can be good and bad and in between.
It would never occur to me to take rocks from our countryside here Gill. They are very funny about that sort of thing in our areas of beauty e.g. The Lake District. Everything that is in the countryside, stays in the countryside.
I'm sorry you are finding town living difficult but my guess is that when dh retires you will be used to it.
Rocks are a salable item here too, and I too, find it annoying! Not too many here to liberate, however, which is probably why they have to be bought.

My aunt would collect the odd rock on beaches up on the Bruce peninsula.
Finding a place where we can retire in peace and serenity is most important in our senior years. Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day !xxx
We have paid for rocks and I feel it's pretty sad to do so too. It's the only way we could get enough to fill in the places we needed filled in. I want to retire somewhere smaller, but do not want a condo or home association board telling me what we can and can't do so I understand that perfectly. The countryside sounds wonderful.

We have collected rocks from different places for our garden. I'm with you - I'd never pay for them, I'd rather go without!
We are not allowed to just remove rocks from rural land. Something to do with erosion and protected lands etc. the rocks in my garden were already here when we purchased the place. I love living in the country. peace and quiet...thats all I need now.
I don't pay for rocks unless they have to be delivered by the truck load. We just go pick what we want and to he!! with the rules. Happy Mother's day. I see you have a huskavarna machine. I love my huskies and sew with nothing else. Also love the knitting. Makes me jealous wish I had time.
Never paid for rocks....I would do without before I paid. We do have a friend who farms and usually has rocks he wants to get rid of. We also live by the beach and we "borrow" beach sand on occasion also.
That is getting trickier because much of it is now state park land.

Just been catching up on blog reading, Gill, and buying rocks does sound a bit too much. As far as the condo board, I agree that rules and regulations can go quite overboard. Did you get a cooy of the so called regulations before signing on the dotted line? I Lived in a small condo development years ago and we had a set of these, which I admittedly never fully read. I can understand your frustration and hope that when the time comes, you will be able to relocate to a place less stressful. And, this is why we plan to remain in an apt for the foreseeable future vs. buying a condo, which we had considered beforehand.
