Book Outlet was having a good sale the other day so I ordered a number of books; actually 14 in total and I paid around $50 for them all. A couple are for Christmas presents, yes I am starting the buying for Christmas 2015. They ship to both Canada and the States.
I had also ordered a one year's subscription to Canada's Style at Home, which I think was either $12 or $15 for twelve issues. The first one came on Friday. Love to guess which is the high or low room; got it wrong this time.
Ages ago, probably a year or two ago I bought some Martha Stewart Alpaca Blend yarn at Michael's in the hope's I would learn to knit. I found it the other day, so decided to knit myself a winter hat:
You would think we had cats, with all the Alpaca bits floating around when I am knitting it. I just love the feel of it though.
Update on Our Little Munchkin. She has a cough, she is wheezing, she is poking at her ears and has a runny nose; she has a head cold. Dd takes her for her 18 month check up on Wednesday so if it does get worse, they will maybe do something about it then? As the nurse said on Thursday, she's at daycare and this is how it goes. She is building up immunity and when she starts school she will not be as sick as other kids you haven't been in daycare. Meanwhile the poor thing is sick every month.
I am a British born, living in Canada since May of 1989. My blog is about all aspects of my daily life.

Looks like you have found some great reading there Gill. I cant believe we are nearly half way through this year already! I thought time was supposed to slow down as you got older, but I have never been busier!
Your knitting looks lovely. The wool will keep you toasty warm even if it does leave little fluffy bits everywhere.
Hope your little munchkin feels better soon, poor love.

Sorry the Munchkin isn't feeling well. It certainly isn't a pleasant time for anyone when kids are building up their immunities.
I love the colour of the coral yarn!
I don't agree with the nurse. Sorry!! Our C was sick from the time she came home at 10 days old and fought the same thing for years. She still does although not on the same basis as she did when she was young. She has bronchial problems and will all her life. She has been sick 3 times this year. In fact got sick on our holidays. The only thing she never had was ear infection. Now she can fight this off on her own however until she was roughly in her late teens she was had to have strong antibiotics to fight anything she got. Some kids just never build a strong immunity system. C hasn't and probably won't ever although she is much better than she was. We always gringe whenever we are around someone who is sick because invariably C picks it up and she is 26!!
It sounds like a very good deal on your books. Those alone will keep you busy! I hope that your grand daughter feels better soon.
Like the knitting (fab colour) and hope the little one feels better soon.
Glad it is not waspy where you are now too!.
I'm sorry the Munchkin is still ill. Our daughter was rarely around other kids and when she started school was always sick. On the flip side, our boys were around kids all of the time because I did daycare in our home and were sick a lot in the early years but rarely missed a day of school.
Your knitting is beautiful. I LoVe knitting with alpaca. Can't wait to see the finished object.
Blessings,
Betsy

The poor munchkin!
Some nice presents there Gill. I keep telling myself no more books, they're stacked all over as the book shelves are full. Couldn't resist yesterday, saw a Patrick O'Brien one of the Aubrey & Maturin series for 99p!
Look forward to seeing the hat finished.
Yes that's exactly what the doctor told my daughter when our grandson Nathan had some bug or other every week. He's 17 now & hasn't ailed a thing for years. Was hardly ever off big school so maybe they're right. Our children weren't subject to all these bugs when they were at home most of the time but they got them when they got to school.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Yes, please do come by the Book Club blog whenever you like to get some reading ideas! Looks like you have an awesome start on your winter hat! Beautiful yarn! Do you follow Debbie at It's All About Purple? She started knitting last year and posts about it sometimes. She gets her yarn from an alpaca farm. I think you would like her blog. Take care!
A good book haul there, I already have a few bits and pieces put away for Christmas and December birthdays!
You are making great progress with knitting :-)
Oliver always seems to have a snotty nose every few weeks although luckily it is just a very snotty nose, i think he picks it up from play group, your granddaughter seems more susceptible to it developing into infection though, poor thing, hopefully she will outgrow it soon enough, just horrible for her at the moment.
Your books look like so much fun. I want to read a lot more this summer so probably not as much knitting and crochet will be done. I really enjoy using alpaca and alpaca blend yarns. So soft! Hoping your little Granddaughter is doing better very soon. I started to write a comment a few hours ago but was interrupted. Didn't know if I pushed publish or not so sorry if I've repeated. :-)
Blessings,
Betsy
Day cares are germ factories, everyone I know with kids in daycare & younger grades public school are sick non-stop. I agree with the poster above too about immune systems... Mya seems to always pick up this or that. She went a year and a half without getting sick and now we're in the 3rd sickness since Feb! :( Just can't win sometimes!
I love those colors! I do hope the nurse is right about your Munchkin...
Book Outlet ?!?! Sounds wonderful to me!! Love that Salmon color of your yarn too! Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello : ))
Bargain hunter. What a lot of books for that price. Love the yarn so pretty. Hope your little munchkin gets better soon
Lots of good reading Gill! Good deals too. The wool is beautiful. Looks like a nice hat. Sorry Munchkin is sick again.
