- I can do a slip knot; albeit looking at instructions on the internet, I just need to do it more often.
- I can cast on
- I can cast off
- I can do both the knit and purl stitches
- I can follow a very simple pattern
- I can "knit in the round."
- I know how to "k2tog," which means knit two stitches together.
All of the above I feel confident in doing.

Then this hat on Tuesday/Wednesday, I am finding it a lot looser knit for some reason?
My baby blanket is a work in progress but I am in no hurry to finish it. I do want to make another toddler hat, so that I have one for each of the grands. I still have a LOT to learn with this knitting. I would like to knit a pair of mittens next, but even the simplest mittens knitting pattern confuses me still.
Overall I am pleased with my progress and even if all I ever learn to knit is hats and blankets, both are useful things. I still go to the knit and sit session on a Tuesday and I thoroughly enjoy myself and the advise they give me is super.

I think you have made great progress with knitting in a very short time. You've got the basics. Your stitches look very even. The next thing to learn is yarn over (yo) then you can intentionally put holes in your knitting and call it lace! Ha! I've been knitting for years and there is still so much I don't know. Have fun with it.

You're doing greata. My mum is an avid knitter and I never fail to be impressed by the skills involved. She has knitted about 100 hats and squares for blankets for orphaned babies in Romania in the past few months.

Seriously, your toddler hats look, well, grand... I'd love to be able to knit, but it's just not in the cards.
You're coming on very well with your knitting. Give it time! You have to get experience doing simple things first. Knitting in the round isn't something I would expect a new knitter to be doing so you are progressing fast already.
I think you have did wonderful with the knitting. And I would love to be able to knit just simple stuff. My girls and son-in-law both wear those type of hats, and I would love to Knit a scarf. I was watching a video on knitting a dishrag, and I thought I can do that. And one of these days I will give it a whirl...just not now.

Wow! you are doing great! I haven't tried anything that difficult yet. Still working on my 2nd blanket. I'm almost done. Just being lazy not completing it. Not sure what I want to try yet, but those hats are really cute!
Love the hats. You are doing really well. I learned to knit when I was 5 (over 50 years ago) and I still can't get the hang of knitting in the round.

Your hats look great. I always had trouble with the tension and the end product looked rather strange.

Oh my goodnes! Your hats are adorable. Good job! For a beginning knitter those hats are very advanced projects and they look perfect. Already doing the decrease stitch is big news! :-) Your tension can change depending on how tense you may be while knitting, especially when you first learn. The last one may be looser because you are finding it easier and thus you are relaxing more. I am very impressed wth these finishes. I'm so glad you have a group to go to. I would like to find one close by too.

Well done. My knitting is about the same standard and I can do hats! My mother and her sisters were expert knitters (but I was the sewer). Still my kids escaped the knitted swimming trunks by cousins had!
