Last week we had a family of Downy Woodpecker's at the bird feeder. Mother, Father and son. I wasn't able to take a photo with all three of them in it, but did manage to get one of the Father and son. I just wish it was in focus; tree is in focus though!!!
Also the other week a Pileated Woodpecker stopped by on our hydro pole. It was huge and I have never seen one of those before. I wasn't able to take a photo of it before it flew away.

Nice visitors!
The Downey woodpecker is rather cute. :)
beautiful, Unless of course it is pecking on your house!!!
I've seen a stuffed pileated woodpecker in a wildlife museum in Tennessee. I was amazed at how big it was. Isn't it lovely to see these pretty birds.
I hear them all the time, however seldom see them.
Hope the pileated woodpecker returns so you can get a photo of it. We have them in our garden and I love capturing photos of it.
Gill, you've two types of woodpecker there on the feeder...Downy and Hairy.

I saw some of those lovely Downey woodpeckers last summer when I was in Ontario. A female and a male. Had never seen them before, so had to rush out and buy a bird book to identify them!
I love bird watchingm- that woodpecker is beautiful! We are trying to attract more birds to our feeders but there is just too much natural food around with the ocean so close. Lots of people feed birds in our neck of the woods on Vancouver Island so they are picky.
Great bird shots Gill!
