Sometimes you don't know what is right on your doorstep......

Just discovered we have an organic farm up the road from us called Mansfield Heritage Farm  It sells organic fruit and veggies and participates in our local Farmers Market on a Friday.  I have yet to go to the Farmer's Market as I keep on forgetting about it.........

Also on thing that sort of puts me off is the price of things.  How can I justify paying $5 for a dozen eggs when I can get them for $2.29 in the grocery store?  Are you willing to pay more for organic food?

Dh will be on vacation next month, so between the jobs we want to get done we want to have a few away days from the house.  I need to search out things to do in our area as I am quite sure there is plenty to do.  I am sure there will be a trip up to Collingwood as we enjoy that area.  Then of course there are The Hills of Headwaters, which is in the area we live in.  I see by their site there is a lot going on.  Of course a day out to St. Jacobs in a great way to spend a day, especially if its on the market day. Yep, I think we will have plenty to do locally while dh is on vacation.

Finally for Sunday.........Molly isn't 100% again, she would take her cheese slice this morning......so will have to keep an eye on her.......

it is said that if it is too pricey to consume organic produce, the least that a person could do is to eat organic eggs and drink organic milk.

We are purchasing as much as possible in organic form and our health improved, we feel more energized and eat a lot less.

All those chemicals that are used to feed the animals and to spray the plants to grow faster are very unhealthy for us.

Looks like you're going to have a lovely week next week. I took a look through your links and the places look most interesting. Be sure and take your camera so you can share your days out with us, please.

I'm sure you will find lots to do next month...just to have time when you and Dh don't have to plan around a couple days off will be wonderful.

We have started purchasing as much organic or free range has possible. It's pricey, however the more people who do purchase, the more those prices will come down. The taste is so very different than the store bought stuff...you just can't compare. The first time we tasted an organic banana we about flipped. Hope Molly is feeling better soon. Hugs

Lucky you having an organic farm up the road! I pay extra for organic things because I like knowing they have not been sprayed with all kinds of junk!

I hope Molly turns out to be okay.

I don't buy certified organic eggs, but what is important to me is buying eggs from pastured chickens. Basically I want to know that they get to eat a natural, varied diet that comes from living outdoors because it makes the eggs so healthy to eat and also I want to know they weren't kept in cages for the sake of their quality of life.
I never buy eggs at the grocery store anymore, but I keep costs down by buying from a local farmer who does everything "right" but chooses not to be certified organic to keep costs down for the people who buy his food.
I do think there is a big difference in the level of vitamins and healthy fats in farm eggs vs store eggs, so I make it a priority.

Like the poster above me, I buy from a local non-certified organic farmer... A dozen eggs are $2-2.50, farm fresh, organic. My free range organic meat is more expensive, but again I buy local & save $$ for it. It's worth every penny. Fruits & veggies, I try to buy organic, but local comes first... I'll buy from Ontario before I buy from Californa or something, organic or not. It's just a choice, you have to decide how important it is to you.

I hope Molly will feel better tomorrow... :)
