Not sure if I am just having a few bad days or what is going on....

However I am feeling totally fed up with things at the moment.  I popped by Jane's blog and she was mentioning she called Hydro (electricity) and as she is in a rural area, she is getting a $28.50 rebate on her delivery charges.  So of course I decided to give them a call to see if I was entitled to it.  It turns out I am already receiving the rebate on my delivery charges as the flat rate for delivery is $61.30, and I am only getting charged $32.80.

So I asked her why my delivery charges on my last bill were still $62.50 and then she proceeded to tell me it has to do with usage etc, etc.  If I hadn't have got the discount the delivery charges would have been $91 that is plain crazy if you ask me. My total electricity billed was $47.68, the delivery charges are $62.50 does that make sense to you???  The total bill this month was $125.25.

I mean I can't get my bill down any lower.  As it is I never use the electric clothes dryer.  I use my toaster oven rather than my main stove oven, I only turn on lights when we have too, and there is only the two of us in the house.  Gas/petrol prices have shot up again.  Food prices are just going through the roof.  I read on Carol's blog that even the price of cotton is going up, which means material prices are shooting up as well.  When will it end?

I think I have a really bad case of the Winter blahs at the moment.

Carol is having a Giveway at her blog that I would encourage you all to enter, as she is raising funds for a little guy in an orphanage called Nicholas.  If you remember we were trying to raise funds for Olga over the Christmas period, Nicholas is in the same situation.

Good news email account back up and running again...........

It's the same the world over, Gill. Hubs nearly had a heart attack over our electric bill yesterday. Hope your days pick up soon.

Gill, we figured out that if we used NO electricity at all we would still be paying for nothing, what with the delivery charge, the debt repayment charge, HST etc etc bloody etc. We just can't win!

PS Still waiting to find out what hydro do with our application form (rip it up for toilet roll???)

Awe Gill, thanks for mentioning the giveaway.

Like Valerie said, it's the same everywhere. Gas prices are hitting the roof, we got a 2% increase in our electric bill, our water costs went through the roof with even more costs coming there and food prices are at an all time high. I guess we just need to tighten up our belts even more. Frugality is going to once again become the buzz word...it's going to have to. Sending lots of hugs your way.

We have natural gas heat and have delivery charges for it...why even fake it as a delivery charge...it is just another way of raising the price.

And you don't even want to hear our electric bill..and it is just the two of us. I do use the dryer, some...but hang a lot to dry too.

I know Roger has the bare minimum heat in his workshop...has one of those space heaters and it really jacks up the price, as does my dehumidifier in the basement when it is raining/summer. But cannot very well do without either one.

It's the same here in Virginia too--And you're right, it being the end of the winter isn't helping!!

I hope you've gotten your e-mail figured out too--I had a 'bounce back' when I left you a comment and hope it made it to you.

I know what you mean abuot prices going up. I am most relieved that I don't have a car, that my stove runs on natural gas and that I'm at work all the time so I only use the lights in the evenings and weekend. I only ever turn the light on in my hallway and also if I am using a room, otherwise my lights are off and my bill is around 40$ every two months. I think the fridge is mostly what runs it up. I don't dare imagine what the people across from me pay for their hydro though, their lights are on all day every day even when they aren't home!!! What a waste...

Its crazy everything is going up. We have looked into solar power here and It looks like we will have to go into debt to get it. So for a little while we will have a morgage again but in the long run It will be worth it. I hope!
