Some random photos........

Thought I'd make a post with some random photos about random things........

I was in Costco this week and saw these two arcade games.  Sent a photo to our son and told him the boys would love them.

Son: "If only we had a generous grand parent that would want to buy that for our kids."

Me: I totally agree....if only 😉

Local store was clearing out some coffee.  I bought a package one day to try it out.  Rather strong but okay, so went back the next day and bought another 8 boxes.......coffee is so flipping expensive nowadays.
Walmart has finally stocked up on socks, so been buying packages of these ones.  For only $3 for three pairs they're a good deal.
I mentioned about the deal at Indigo where if you bought one book you could get a Murdoku book for $10; they're normally $24.99 each.  So I picked up 3 for $10 books, as they have restocked those with new ones.  I did try the first puzzle and was totally confused 😕
Indigo also had buy one get on for half price on their puzzles.  So picked up two; and with that I have spent the last of my birthday gift cards from Indigo.
Hubby's favourite birthday card was from the grandsons this year.
8 year old picked it out and wrote it.  While five year old put all the stickers in it...LOL
So there you go, random photos about random things.

A new to me product....

Have you seen this in your stores?  I saw it a while ago and decided to give it a go.  I rarely use fabric softener, and occasionally I find that the towels have an odour even after I have washed and dried them, so thought I would try this.

My verdict: I love it.  One benefit I have found which I wasn't expecting was that my clothes are drying faster in the dryer.  Prior to using this the towels were taking forever to dry.  It doesn't have an overpowering scent either, which I like, but may just get scent free next time, as I do plan on continuing using this.  I did pick mine up from Wal Mart, but am guessing you can get it at all major stores, and even Amazon.

I have just had a thought though.  I am guessing white vinegar would work as well; then I had a look again on Amazon and saw this:

Do you use this product and if so what did you think?

Always love a good deal.........

If you're in Canada and have a Sobey's grocery store nearby here is a great deal.  If you buy 5 Kraft products you can get $10 off in a Sobey's store.

This week Sobey's has Classico pasta sauce on for $3.27 each.  However when you buy 5 you will get the $10 off making them $1.27 each.  I find this pasta sauce very tasty and not as watery as some.  I will say we don't eat a lot of pasta. but wanted to try a variety of sauces.

I went shopping at Walmart on Friday and got a "top up shop," meaning, it's only a few things.  Funny thing looking at this lot, you know I must have the grandkids coming, with all the snacks.   My grandkids are always starving!!😂  They seem to have bottomless pits as stomachs!!  Or they know that Nana always has plenty of snacks on hand!!

That little lot cost me $60.
Did you get any good deals while grocery shopping this week.

Cool, hip and happening!!

So there I was at the cash out in Wal-Mart.  I reach into my back pocket of my jeans to take out my I-Phone 8 to pull up my price checking app that dear daughter had installed on my phone so I could price check an item.  I am thinking what a cool, hip and happening woman am I.

I then go and spoil it all by saying............."what a cool hip and happening woman am I pulling my I-Phone out of my jeans back pocket like all the young kids do." 😉

Meanwhile the YOUNG cashier is just laughing at me.

Then just to make it worse I say, "if my daughter was with me she would be rolling her eyes and saying MOTHER!!"

The cashier just laughed more.  Oh well at least her day started off with a laugh!

A first for me that's for sure..........

Came out of WalMart yesterday and there was a youngish guy sitting on the ground in the parking lot with handcuffs on..........not something I have ever seen before.

Meanwhile, two other guys casually dressed were taking everything out of his car, including a little baggie..........

I can only assume the two guys taking the things out of his car were police officers and in the baggie was something illegal............dh "escorted" me away before I could get a better look............spoil sport!!

Never seen anything like that before.

Updates on a couple of past posts..........

the stinky towel issue, didn't resolve itself.  They are not as bad, but not 100% cured.

I cleaned out the washer, I leave to door open all the time, and I am not allowed to hang out laundry where we live.

Original post is here.

Remember the Chamomile scented toilet paper?  Original post here.

Now I am not saying I am totally relaxed because of the scent, but will admit it is very pleasant and will continue buying it.  So thumbs up for whomever invented this.

Went to Wal-Mart and picked these three onsies and paid a total of $3.23 for all three you can't turn them down at that price.

Remember my to-do list from the beginning of the month?  Here is my progress on that:

decorate the powder room - that is totally doable, so I see no problem doing that (will be starting on that on Tuesday)
  • decorate the master bedroom - that is iffy, that job may go into March - no progress here
  • menu plan - that was only partly done in January, so need to work on that - did it last week
  • finish knitted baby blanket for dd, we should know the sex of the baby by this upcoming weekend - we hope - nearly done
  • finish two baby quilts.  One is cut out the other is not - one finished, other not started need to order some more material.
  • encourage dh and help him in the basement to get all the framing done and make a good start on the electrics.  There are a lot of bulk heads to make in the basement which equals a lot of work. - done a little more
  • sort out the basement and see what we don't want and try and sell those unwanted items. - haven't started
  • knit a pair of socks - this is proving to be a pain in the butt and I think it has something to do with the yarn I have? - need a new plan of action here
  • cut back on grocery spending and use what is in the cupboards - menu planning will help with this - work in progress
  • try and save as much money as I can and not buy anything online all month. - so far so good, but I do need to order material; however I have the money put aside for that
  • sort out my blue air miles card, as I want to be able to cash in for groceries not just goods. - done!

  • So overall not too bad one week into the month.  How is your to do list progress going so far this month?

    Busy slapping the watermelon............

For anyone who lives in Canada and America you will have no doubt seen or heard of those strange photos of weird and wonderful people who shop in WalMart (here is the link), well I have a feeling if they bring out video's of people doing strange things in WalMart, yours truly will have a star role.

I don't know about you but this years crop of watermelon's have been very hitty missy.  I have yet to have one that is good.  I have had to take one back as it was very mealy and soft inside.  So last Thursday we had our condo phase BBQ.  I had to take a dessert so slices of watermelon sounded like a good plan, plus it required minimum preparation from me.

Off I go to WalMart and decided to ask the produce guy for tips on how to buy the perfect watermelon.  His advice was slap it?  I was a little puzzled by this as I normally knock on it with my knuckles.  So I asked him to help me.  There we are standing over the bin of watermelon's slapping them on their butts.

After a few seconds I turned to the guy and said:

"you do know that if the security guys are watching us on their camera, they are going to be wondering what we are doing; and you do know that we could end up on Facebook or Youtube!"

I could be famous one day.....but not for the right reason though!!

P.S. The BBQ was actually pretty good.

Very surprised to see the size of this embassy.........

There are numerous embassies in Ottawa, and although we did see a couple it was the American one which surprised me.  It was huge and my pho...
