Time to pass on the baton..........

When God was handing out talents, I skipped a few lines; how to mend a car, how to use power tools, you know that sort of thing.  However, I was front and centre when in the "shop until you drop," line😁

The other day I met up with daughter and grand daughters at the mall around 40 minutes from home.  I rather enjoy that mall, Vaughan Mills.  Got a variety of stores and a pretty good food court.  Plus it's a straight drive for me, no going on Highway 401, which is a nightmare I find.

Any how, we got there for 10am and fueled up at Tim Hortons, before we started.  We all had things we wanted/needed to do and I will say we all were in a great mood.

I came to the store I needed to go into, Kate Spade first.  I have splashed something; coffee maybe, onto my suede handbag.  I am not happy, so wanted advice on the best way to clean it.  Their advice; google it?????  We had a look around, admiring all the bags and deciding, I would drag hubby back there when he is off next to see if he feels like buying me another handbag πŸ˜‰

We carried on and got more shopping and more shopping, and more shopping!!!  By 12:15pm, my feet were killing me and I left the others in a store to go and find a chair to sit down on.  They came and found me and said lets go to HomeSense.  I said no we're going to eat and dragged them to the food court, so I could sit down for a bit.

After lunch we went to HomeSense and bought a pile of stuff, and headed towards Bass Pro to look at the fish; but after that I was done.  I could walk no more.  I left the mall at 1:45 pm and was home by 2:30pm.  Which means I was shopping for only 3 + hours, but I was pooped.

So I am now officially handing over the shopping baton to daughter and grand daughters, they can get on with it now; I'm getting too old for all this wandering around!!  But let me add, despite how tired I was I thoroughly enjoyed my day, the girls are great to shop with, especially when they have there own money!!

Cool, hip and happening!!

So there I was at the cash out in Wal-Mart.  I reach into my back pocket of my jeans to take out my I-Phone 8 to pull up my price checking app that dear daughter had installed on my phone so I could price check an item.  I am thinking what a cool, hip and happening woman am I.

I then go and spoil it all by saying............."what a cool hip and happening woman am I pulling my I-Phone out of my jeans back pocket like all the young kids do." πŸ˜‰

Meanwhile the YOUNG cashier is just laughing at me.

Then just to make it worse I say, "if my daughter was with me she would be rolling her eyes and saying MOTHER!!"

The cashier just laughed more.  Oh well at least her day started off with a laugh!

Couple more finishes......

I posted back here about getting some new material in the mail.  So the other day I made dd a tote bag using the cactus canvas and the webbing.  The grey material was from my stash.

I used it to go knitting with and it's a perfect size at around 18" x 18"  The sign is from the real estate agent, reminding people to remove their shoes before walking around the house.  We take off our shoes when going into someone elses home, so we don't get their floors or carpets dirty with muddy or dirty shoes.  It's a common practice and it is frowned upon if you don't take your shoes off.

I knit these hats the other week.  I took down the two on the left hand side of the photo.  The orange one was for Nora, but Paige claimed itπŸ˜‰ So I thought I had better make another one for Nora.

I ended up knitting this one in bubblegum pink and blue, I doubled up the yarn to make it super thick and warm; the pattern only calls for worsted yarn.  Nora is liking blue at the moment for some reason.  I love this knitting pattern as it is so easy.  Using US 8 or 5mm circular needles, cast on 77 stitches, join knitting in the round and then knit two, purl two until the hat measures 9 inches.

To decrease:

Row 1: knit two, then knit two together until end of row
Row 2: knit
Row 3: knit one, knit two together until end of row
Row 4: knit
Row 5: knit two together until end of row

Cut yarn and thread tail through remaining stitches and sew in.
I love this Patons Canadian yarn for knitting the kids' hats, as it's a great priced yarn and if the kids lose their hat it's not the end of the world.  It washes well and has some give and comes in many colours.  I get mine from Angie at The Knitting Basket.  This is The Knitting Basket's Facebook page   If you have chance pop in and say hello and said I sent you!

So what's new?

Well our son and partner got engaged on the weekend in Boston.  He took her to see the Toronto Blue Jays play the Boston Red Soxs at Fenway Park as she is baseball mad.  She said yes and as they already live together it won't be a long engagement, and I think they will be getting married early 2017.  Her ring is gorgeous, a real "bobby dazzler."  If you haven't heard of that term before click on this link for an explanation.  Thankfully our daughter "helped" guide our son in the right direction regarding the right ring, as he likes the "bigger the better look," and our future daughter-in-law has very small hands.  The ring he got is perfect though.

Still waiting to see our new grand daughter; as she is still inside of her mother's tummy.  Dd doctor took ill and so her C-section was postponed until next week; as long as she doesn't go into labour in between hands.  She is now 39 weeks.  Pain in the butt for everyone as everything was planned out.  However as long as mum and baby are okay that's the main thing.  So we should have a baby this next week now.

Due to all that phaffing about didn't get much of anything done this week.......

Little shocked to see my foot this morning:

I curled my toes over for the photo so you weren't exposed to my nasty toe nails!!  It's still quite bruised and it's been a week and a half now.

Finally, you know how you win some, you lose some?  Well this week we got our next property tax bill in the mail.  Seems it has gone down; yes I said DOWN, by $2 a month!!!

Then we got our year end report from the Condo board and our condo fees have gone up by $40 a month!  Personally that is a bit much and they have forecast that next year (July 2017) it will be up by another $55 a month.  By then it will have gone up $125 a month since we moved in in 2014.  We will have been in the house two years next week.  After that last increase it will then be only going up a couple of percent per year.  They need to get the reserve fund up to a certain point in a certain amount of time as per law.  I am not impressed!

Off now to try and get as many groceries as possible for as little money as possible.......getting to be a harder and harder challenge nowadays though.

Halloween Cross Stitch.........

In the past 40 years I have been doing cross stitch, I have never done a Halloween Cross Stitch.  Do you remember when I did the Christmas C...
