On Tuesday I had a hair appointment for a trim. Fair enough. I have a love/hate relationship with hairdressers and I hate paying a lot for a simple haircut. However, I try to go on a Tuesday at this place when it's "only" $20 plus tax for a haircut and I leave a $5 tip, so it comes in at under $28. Also I have now "trained" the hairdresser in the way I want my hair cut....LOL Still, I always find the whole thing a little stressful.
After that hubby and I went for a coffee. We then went to Home Depot to spend just under $1,000 on a new dryer. Went with another LG one. Getting free delivery and more importantly they are taking the old one away for us. Hubby will strip out the electronics from the old one, as they will fit the new one, if need be. It won't be here until next Tuesday, but nothing we can do about that.
Then we went to CAA to get some travel insurance for an upcoming trip. That is where the s*it hit the fan as they say!!! We got a woman who knew best and wouldn't listen. Suffice to say by the time we left there we felt as though we had run a marathon.
We had decided before going to CAA that once we had sorted out the insurance we would go to Panera Bread for lunch as we have a gift card. We walked into the store and just looked at the menu and neither of us could decide what to order, so walked out and went home for lunch.
We sat down in our chairs and we both said at the same time, we felt so drained with it all, despite not doing anything much all morning.
I have never felt so tired/old/drained in all my life. How one person could make both of us feel so drained is mind boggling.
Hubby then had to call CAA as he has to talk to the underwriters for his travel insurance. Good news his was "only" around $340 for 8 days, whereas mine went up $30 to nearly $80 for the 8 days.
The rest of the day was spent sitting in our chairs watching soccer on tv and staring into space..............
Have you ever left a place and felt totally drained and unable to make a simple decision like what you want for lunch?????

I am sorry to hear about your experience at CAA. I use a lovely company and sort mine out annually. Will you reconsider using CAA for your next trip?
I wish I had to pay $28.00 for a hair cut, my tab is $43.00 including tip, obviously making that cut last as long as I can.
Drained? yes I do sometimes, however, that is usually doing something on the phone with B@l, listening to all of the cr^p they want to sell you and never really getting the information you were asking for in the first place.
I'm with you on the hair cuts thing - in one sense Covid was an incentive to turn to the Resident Chef who does a really good job of cutting my hair and he's been doing it since 2020. We've saved a ton of money and I haven't had to come home and retrim certain areas after being at a 'real' hairdresser.
I get the 'drained' thing - I feel that pretty much every time we spend a morning running errands, much less with the added stress of buying travel insurance.
Pleased you got the new dryer ordered/sorted.
I do understand 'the drained' feeling I think it happens as we age ... my dear Mum would say it's natures way of slowing you down!
All the best Jan
Wow, you guys actually got a pretty good deal on your travel insurance ours was ridiculously priced in the fall when we traveled east. And we got ours through CAA as well. Glad your dryer is ordered and what a great idea to strip out the electronics in case they are needed later.
God bless.
If either you or the husband continued your benefits package after retirement there is usually travel insurance included in the package. My Blue Cross plan gives us multiple trips a year up to 30 days at a time. If we go away longer, we just call them to purchase the extra days required. Husband has travel benefits through his Veterans package but they make everything so complicated we stick to my Blue Cross.
Used to buy from AMA (same outfit as yours, different province). Had to claim one year and it was a nightmare, I was nearly $20,000 out of pocket for two months because of the runaround the insurer gave us. They only paid up when I threatened to go to the media if |I didn't have the cheque by a certain date and time.
