Too Good To Go

I picked up a Too Good To Go box from Tim Hortons yesterday.

I paid $4.99and got 5 muffins, 3 blueberry, and 2 fruit explosion and 3 old fashioned plain donuts.

Now, when I went to pick up the box, they gave me one with 3 raisin muffins in them and so I said to them that we do not like raisins and I knew there was another box, so asked to see that one.  They told me they don't do that but would make an exception this time.   This one had one raisin muffin in it, so she took that out and put a blueberry one in from the original box.

Was it worth the $4.99?  I would say not.  The muffins were good, but I buy the reduced ones from other stores and pay generally between $3 to $4 for 6 at half price and they are as good.  The other box had more variety of items but we would have thrown out the muffins as we don't like them.  I have seen other's showing what they got and it was a lot more.

I also enquired about the fruit and salad box in Metro and they wanted $11.99 for a bag, but I find their reduced salads, iffy at the best of times, so wasn't willing to take a chance on spending $11.99 and having to throw it all out.

Have you tried these reduced mystery boxes or bags of things from stores?

We tried TGTG from M&S and had some tasty and attractive meals, very good value for £3. But there was an awful lot of UPF, and plastic packaging, so we stopped, and buy only ingredients to cook frugal meals from scratch now, and feel much better for it.

I've had good to go bags in the past but find them a bit hit or miss. Didn't rate the Starbucks one or the Costa one,

Even as a kid I have loved mystery boxes/bags. But, I've never tried a food one.

I didn't know stores were doing this. I remember asking a friend who worked at Tim Hortons if they ever sold day-olds and she said they weren't allowed...even the staff couldn't take them home and they had to be thrown away. I couldn't understand that and wondered why they at least couldn't give them to a food bank.
