Picked this up at the charity shop silent auction for $12. It's a lovely little chair and other than the seat is perfect. Also you can never have enough chairs in the house can you?
I think the seat will be easy enough to replace, it's a dh job though!!!
As I am assuming it will involve some sort of power tool to cut out the wood in the shape of the seat. Some sort of drill thingy to drill the various holes and a hammer to hammer those stud things in?
As I have said before when God was handing out the ability to use power and hand tools I was else where......probably in the shopping aisle!!!
I posted another book review over on my book review blog if you are interested? I have one more to read for this month.
One of the things about the book I just read made me think that I haven't done enough with my life and I need to do more. More of what I have no idea, but more. It's something I am going to think about and ponder over the next few days. I'll let you know what I come up with. If anyone else has read "Firefly Island," did you come up with the same thought?
I am a British born, living in Canada since May of 1989. My blog is about all aspects of my daily life.

Your right Gill you can never have to many chairs & yours should do up nice!!
It was worth the overnight wait Gill - it's lovely! I have a weakness for chairs, and as you say, you can never have too many of them - I'm not sure J agrees though!
My illness has led to me thinking that every single day. My advice is live as if next week is your very last week on Earth; fill your time and achieve something every single day because no matter how long we live, it will never be long enough xx
Lovley chair: will look very cute when it is finished. I love the olde cottage style (is it shaker?) lol
Those shopping aisles can be treacherous, can then not be Gill?
Whereas you will find me drooling over power tools!

My weakness is rocking chairs. I currently have 4 but 2 have to live at my mom's house because mine is too small. 3 of the 4 are family pieces and I can't part with them.
What a lovely chair.
You could always make a cushion to sit on top of the pierced wooden top the chair and attach it with some velcro to keep it in place or some ties around the back.
It looks very like my chairs inherited from my Nana, that were one of her wedding presents from her father.

Living on my own for many years I've been forced to get to know tools intimately - and found that I love using them! If your hubby doesn't want to fix up that chair I will! :)
VERY nice Gill, or at least it will be when you've finished. I do like your floor too.
Gill have you ever considered adding a woven seat? the holes are already there
Beautiful and at $12, wow! I'd just throw a cushion over it and call it a day.. haha!!
I'm wondering if at one time it was a caned seat and someone decided to redo the seat and either couldn't cane or didn't want to, so covered it with a bit of wood and perhaps a cushion at one point. I have two such chairs and love to use them.
