Seriously............

Not sure if you're like me, but if I know what I am talking about I will argue with you until the cows come home.  However, if I don't know what you are talking about I won't argue.

So today the appliance guy came to look at the fridge.  They had called Monday to change my appointment and it worked out better for me.  So he came in and asked me what was wrong.  I explained and despite the fact his accent was Eastern European and mine is British we managed to understand one another.

BUT, he then started on about breaker's and trying to say it was my fault/the breakers fault.  I do not know diddly squat about breakers.  So I was getting confused because, I thought if the breaker was at fault, the fridge wouldn't come back on?  I didn't know this for a fact, but thought it would.  So he kept talking, so I said this:

"My husband is an electrician, I'll call him and you can talk to him, as I know nothing about breaker's."

The look on his face at this point, made me realize that he was trying to get out of doing anything!!!  He told me that was alright I didn't have to call him; but too late I had dialed the number.

Got hubby on the phone and put him on speaker and said what was going on.  Hubby said out loud, "he's trying to get out of doing anything, there is nothing wrong with the breaker!!"

His attitude changed then, and I let hubby go as he was at work.  He took photos, and said he was going to call KitchenAid for advice to see what they say and get back to me.

I WILL NOT taken advantage of.  As I told him it keeps going off, I can't keep much in the fridge and freezer as I have no idea when it might turn off again.  When you pay over $5 thousand for a flipping fridge, it had better work!!  If it's under warranty, they have to fix it whether they like it or not.  I will be sticking to my guns on this as I am now fed up of the whole flipping thing.

Follow up to two prior posts

1. The Fridge

Back in December my fridge was playing up.  The day before my warranty expired (sheer luck there) I called and they scheduled a visit for a repair guy.

He came the week later diagnosed the issues and said he would return when he had the parts.

Just before Christmas he returned with a circuit board which he replaced.  Also he brought a new door seal, mine had torn.  Tried to take it off the door it was glued on.  Left it and said he would see what's what.  Turns out they needed to replace the whole door; which too my mind is a major design flaw.

Got a call in the New Year to say the door would take 4 - 6 months to arrive.  I said fine as it was the outer seal that was torn not the inner, so the fridge was remaining at temperature.

Fast forward to the beginning of last week and the guy turns up with the door.  The didn't send the handle or the inserts, just the door (we used the ones from the old door)...LOL  I guess KitchenAid has to save money somewhere.

The repair guy said the door was worth $800, then include his labour and that was a $1,000 visit.  You can buy a cheap fridge for that price. (see here)  Good news the new circuit board has done the trick and so far hasn't turned off.

Now for the bad news, I have no warranty on either my fridge or stove.  However, as per the repair guy the life expectancy of these appliances is under 10 years ๐Ÿ˜• Which begs the question, why buy expensive appliances in the first place when they will only last a few years????

2. Hearing Aids

Again back in December hubby went to get his hearing tested, after he heard I had survived the test; yes I have to go first so that he would go!!  The test showed he needed hearing aids and she suggested applying to Worker's Comp. (WSIB) as he lost his hearing due to his work environment.

He wasn't keen on applying but he did, and multiple forms later, (I know our life involves lots of forms) he has been approved.  He should get the letter this coming week and then he will go to the store to see what's what.

He only needs them when there is a lot of background noise; he cannot wear them at work due to the noise.  His hearing loss is typical for someone his age, and the fact he has worked in noisy factories all his life.

The funny thing is, he was saying that all of a sudden, warning signs have been popping up all over the factory about the high noise level and advising people to wear noise protection.

Too little, too late for hubby!

Okay back again

It's been a miserable couple of weeks.  I went back to the dentist and my tooth was cracked.  So they put me on antibiotics for a week, then removed my tooth on Friday November 12th.  Now because I have had a dry socket before he decided to put a stitch in it to prevent that.  Naturally it wasn't pain free, but this isn't the first time I have had a tooth out.  However by Wednesday I had, had enough.  Got an emergency appointment and he took the stitch out (thank goodness) and packed my socket with medication.  It was swollen, but he said it was healing.  As I am writing this on Sunday morning, it is still sore but manageable.

Due to all this pain and a few other things that have gone on, I have had a personality transplant, and miserable doesn't even begin to describe how I have been....LOL  Poor dh has been ready to move out, but I do feel I am on the other side of all of this.

Adding to all this misery I have been dealing with an issue with my fridge.  It's a simple issue but it's a $200 part and warranty will cover it.  However dealing with the warranty folk is making me lose the will to live at times๐Ÿ˜  Suffice to say, if you are thinking of buying appliances, DO NOT by KitchenAid they are not worth the money.  Our fridge is less than 3 years old.  I paid over $5 thousand for it and the ice maker bucket is rusting out.

Hopefully this will get sorted out this week, but I am not holding my breath.  Thankfully the fridge is operational without this part as this mess has been going on for over two weeks now.

The blog is going to change a bit for the next 30 days as I am embarking on a 30 day challenge on the treadmill.  So I will be posting daily and using this blog as a diary to write how I get on.

I have lost 17 lbs in the past 8 weeks.  It's been a hard slog, but I am determined not to give up.  This challenge I am hoping will spur me on as I have a goal of wanting to lose 25lbs (total) before I talk to the doctor sometime during the week of December 20th.

My sugar levels are improving.  My clothes are fitting a whole lot better, some are even looking too big๐Ÿ˜  I am trying to do two 30 minute walks everyday, and they are up and down hills.  I am trying to walk around 30 miles a week, as that is my preferred method of exercise, but the weather is getting worse as we head into the end of November.

So it will be interesting to see how this challenge goes.  I hope you can follow along.

Taking a break.......

back in a while.  Nothing wrong...........
