Cross stitch and more........

My weekly crafting, reading and puzzle making post.

It was flipping hot last week and this week is not looking any better with temperatures in the 30's all week....BOO!!!!!  Therefore it's all in the red this past week.

I am reading this book at the moment.  It's good, but it's taking it's sweet time getting to the nitty gritty of the story.  I seem to be in a World War II genre of reading books at the moment.
The puzzle is slowly coming together.  I have been busy this past week with hubby being off, so haven't had chance to do much.

What have you been up to in your spare time?

Hello July................

We're already half way through 2024, where has the first half of the year gone too?  For me time is flying by this year.  Hubby took this week off from work, so we have been busy catching up on bits and bobs, trying to get some jobs out of the way.  However, poor hubby has been sick with a head cold.  However, when he catches a cold, it also goes straight to his chest, so he has been coughing up a lung and thankfully coughing up green ick.  He has turned a corner and is finally feeling a bit better.

As the Euro's is on, we have been watching a bit of soccer/football.  I caught up with my temperature cross stitch today, and I am up to date with it. It's still hot and humid.  I try and get anything I need done outside done in a morning and then hibernate in the afternoon.

Our daughter-in-law and her sister were telling me about a puzzle they had got but couldn't complete, as it's "The Clearly, Impossible Round Puzzle."

What makes it hard is it's clear perspex which changes colour depending on the light.  It was hard I will admit, and hubby helped me with this.  There is a method to completing this, and once we got into the swing of it; it was pretty straight forward.  However, I totally understand how it could be impossible to do.

I will prepare a few posts for the next few days so you can see what we've been up too.

cross stitch update

This is my latest update; I have completed stitching right up to this past Tuesday.  As you can see we had some stinking hot days last week, and this chart does not include the humidity, so the temps were in the 40's a couple of those days.  Everyone was weary and miserable.  It's a lot cooler at the moment.

As I have finished my paint by numbers I thought I'd start another puzzle, I have two yet to make.  Dh bought me this Thomas Kincaide one for my birthday I think?  It's a 1000 piece one and flipping hard.

I am making good progress though with it, as I have only been doing this since Sunday.

What are you up too crafting wise?

Cross stitch and paint by numbers update....

Here is my temperature cross stitch latest update.

We are going to see temperatures in the higher range this coming week.
Then I finished my latest paint by numbers.  I am really pleased with it.  I love the bright colours.

I still have to attach the hanging frame.  Now I have a couple of puzzles to make.

Couple of crafting updates.........

New month, so finished of the May section and started on the June section with my temperature cross stitch.

Now is it just me, or do you also think this year is just scooting on by?  May was a wet month but nice and warm.  It has cooled off a little so the a/c hasn't been on the last few days, which is nice.

As I have been reading a lot of books, my paint by numbers has suffered.  Here is what I have finished so far on it:

It's going to be lovely when finished, but I am struggling seeing all the numbers.  They are very faint.

No happy medium...........

Here is an updated photo of May in my temperature cross stitch.

Yesterday was the first day of red appearing.  We had a high of 27 oC.  However with the humidity it hit 30 oC.  Just like in the winter where there was a windchill, in summer we have the humidity, I will not be including either.

The one thing I don't enjoy about Canada, is that the seasons tend to merge into one another.  We tend to miss out on Spring.  It only lasts a few days, then the heat just hits us; we don't much of a happy medium where it's not too cold, nor too hot..  We don't have our a/c on yet, but if the temperatures continue in the 30's, I can see me putting it on this week.

Shockingly though it's a bank holiday/long weekend here, and the weather is really nice.  Generally when there is a holiday it normally pees down...LOL

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Cross Stitch update

I am still doing the daily temperature cross stitch project.  Here is where we are at.  Completed up to and including May 14th.

The weather is getting warmer, so we are seeing more orange colours and even some pinks; although we have had some wet weather.  For the rest of this week, we will be in the low 20's, so that is nice.   Just wish it wouldn't rain all the time!!

Crafting update.........

It's been a lot cooler this past week with even some snow.  It is melting, but its not been Spring-like that's for sure.  The temperatures are going to climb this week again; for how long who knows?  Anyhow updated my temperature cross stich for the week.

I got a puzzle from hubby as part as my birthday gift.  It's a Thomas Kinkade one and not overly easy!!  However, it is a beautiful scene, I wonder if it's based of an actual village?  I don't know much about Thomas Kinkade, do you?  He bought this at WalMart.

It's coming along though, slowly but surely.

Cross stich and art

Bit late this week in posting this as I wanted to do the hotel stay posts first.  The week started off warm last week and gradually cooled down.  This week is going to be a cold one with wintery weather.  I knew it was too good to be true all these warm temperatures!

I also attempted some water colour "painting."  The top one was water colour splotches of paint, and when dry I went round the colours with a sharpie.

The one underneath, I put dots of acrylic paint on the paper and dragged an old credit card over them to spread the paint out.  Neither are much good, very basic, but it's a start.

Have you been doing anything crafty this past week.

Temperature cross stitch and catch up

Here is the latest update on the temperature cross stitch.  Last week was way above normal temperatures and other than on Sunday when it was cold and we had a sprinkle of snow, this week is looking warm as well.

Last week went by in a flash and honestly I don't feel I achieved a lot, other than booking our vacation.

This coming week isn't looking a lot better, as I have a busy week ahead of me.

Monday morning started out rough.  I HATE the time changes, it messes with my whole body clock.  Then when I went into the kitchen the fridge wasn't working.  I swore at that point and later on in the morning spent a delightful 45 minutes on the phone trying to get the warranty folk to sort it out.  Yes it's still under warranty, it's the circuit board that has gone again; despite the fact it was replaced just before Christmas.  The guy is coming out on Wednesday, but he won't do anything as he will have to order parts.  Meanwhile my fridge could turn off anytime, so I dare not put a lot in it.  Yes, it's bloody annoying 😡

I had to go to Walmart to the pharmacy as I thought I had "lost" 80 of hubby's pills.  I thought I was losing the plot on Friday.  Long story short they had shorted me 80 pills, as their inventory was over by 80.  I searched high and low for those bloody pills, as you begin to doubt yourself.

So here I am writing this on Monday lunchtime.  I will try and post through the week and more consistently.  I will also try and catch up with what is going on in your world.  But at this moment I just want to not do anything but read and relax as I feel stressed!!

Hope you have a relaxing week.

Taking a break.......

back in a while.  Nothing wrong...........
