I had appointments at the doctor's office on Tuesday so didn't get a lot of sewing done, but I did get a couple of these made..........
They are for opening lids. I am having a heck of a time with my thumbs and am finding it difficult to open things. This is my answer to that difficulty. The bottom is actually shelf liner, as it grips to everything.
What do you think? I plan on making more and listing them on the shop.

That is an extremely clever idea! I may 'borrow' it, please. I really like it.
xx
love them!
Such a great idea and I loved the fabric.
I found some placemats from the shelf liner material that were on sale for a quarter. I cut it into squares and use that for opening jars, so I think yours are a good idea. Sometimes, I need one for both hands, so a longer one, rectangular, would be a good idea. You could sell a set of two. If a person did not need one to hold the jar and one for the lid, they could use the rectangular one for tops, also.
Great idea...I have to use one for all the jar openings lately...ah "advancing" age wise is not for sissies...hugs, Julierose
So very clever of you!!
God bless.
A good idea!
What a great idea Gill. I'm having exactly the same problem. Who expected that their thumbs would be the first to go?
I am going to try this! I can remember when my mom started having to have me open jars, and now I am having that same problem. It is not my thumb, though, it is more that I don't have the strength that I used to have.
Now that is a really clever idea. I struggle with the tops of jars.
