Been fighting on with this for well over a week now with over the counter medication and it's just not cutting it. Tried making an appointment with our family doctor and couldn't get in for over a week to see him. Tried to get in to see the nurse practitioner again a week to see her.
So I gave in and went to our local walk-in clinic. I have to say I had a pleasant experience. The doctor was super nice. I "only" waited 1 1/2 hours, which may seem like a lot but for a walk-in that is pretty good going. If I had gone to our family doctor, it's an hour to drive there; an hour to drive home and anything up to an hour waiting to see him. So probably a three hour experience.
Turns out I have congestion on my ears and boy are they sore. So another nasal spray for me for the next two weeks. I was concerned if my ears don't clear up before we fly to the UK I would be in severe pain flying. So fingers, toes and everything else crossed my ears will have dried up well before we fly.
Do you have good or bad experiences when using a walk-in clinic?
Talking of ears, some songs can be "earworms," as they get stuck in your head. So if they bother you, don't watch this Youtube video!!

I have had good experiences with the doctors at walk ins but bad experience with wait times, as you say 1.5 hours or even more. Sometimes the line up is so long they won't take you
Hope the meds clear up everything quickly so that flying won't be a problem. I'm lucky - I go to a large medical centre at Women's College in downtown Toronto and if for any reason my Dr. wasn't available in good time they have residents taking up the slack. They also have some evening and weekend hours though again I might have to see another doctor if mine wasn't on duty.
I only remember going to a Walk-In clinic once and that was when I worked at York University. I had a bad allergic reaction to something and one of my co-workers recognized what was happening and got me over there asap - they took one look at my swollen face and took me straight through so I was very lucky.
Hope today is a better day! I refuse to listen to the earworm video. I have had the theme song to The Beverly Hillbillies stuck in my head for about a week. Maybe I should listen to it after all and get a new earworm!
We don't go to walk ins, we don't have them here in rural Ontario. We do have a great emergency room. The longest I've waited is 2 hours.
I have had a lifetime of ear issues so I feel your pain, no pun intended. I make the trek to the family dr. when I absolutely need to go but my daughter, being a teacher, can never go when she needs to because she is at work. So, she goes to a place a couple of blocks from her house. She has seen the same dr. twice and really likes him and has had really good luck. We call them "doc in a box" here and I think they have improved since their beginning.
Hopefully it's not a sinus issue, because nasal sprays won't be enough to clear it up.
I hope you start to feel better very soon. I have never heard the term earworm before, I really think that is a perfect term.
God bless.
Hope you feel better soon.
