Decorating..............

One of the goals for this year is to finish painting the main floor of the house.  We still need to paint the kitchen/breakfast area.  Front hall and stairs to the basement.  Powder/laundry room and our bedroom.

Before Christmas I painted both the living room and dining room.  The living room was hard going with the nearly 12 foot ceilings; although I did not paint the ceilings, just painting the walls that height was enough.

I like to use Beauti-Tone paints, which is carried by Home Hardware.  I bought a lot of paint in June of 2015 (see here) basically at half price, so am working my way through those.  If I run out of paint it's easy enough for me to pop into the store to get some more.  Also they have a programme where when you buy six cans of paint you get one free; you don't have to buy them all at once.  So it's well worth doing that.  Plus I like the paint, which always helps!

I am choosing the paint for the main floor from the Colour Confidence series, which just happens to be the colours I like.  So far I have painted the living room in Oak Tone and the dining room in Feather Stone and the kitchen/breakfast room/front hall in Earthling.
Sorry about the quality of the photo.  When you paint what colours tend to be your favourite?

When I painted our hallway, living room and stairwell the paint was called French vanilla and it looked very similar to the lighter tones on your chart. One wall is denim blue for an accent. I love it! The bedroom is in two tones of brown/beige with a chair rail separating the two colors. The bathrooms are lemon yellow. Bright and cheery for sure. Have fun painting!
Blessings,
Betsy

I like neutrals and then accessorize with bright colours that I can change.

My what high ceilings to paint. Most of our house is painted Dulux Endurance Matt Jasmine White which is basically off white not really much Jasmine but it's lovely & light in summer & winter. I buy Endurance Matt which is washable, doesn't show marks where you wash off scuffs & spills, doesn't fade & it lasts for years. My kind of paint!
What a great system to buy paint. Wish somewhere did that here. I usually wait until it's on offer two for price of one & buy multiples in Jasmine white.

I prefer the neutrals as well. One of our houses was painted "Pussywillow" and the trim was "Marshmallow" -- it was my favorite combination of all time. In this house the trip is very close to Marshmallow and I don't know what the wals are but when we paint I am going to make it a little grayer and not so yellow but it is still neutral.

I love light colours/neutrals that brighten up a room. Dark colours feel very depressing. And then I add pops of colour with decorations, pillows, etc.

I like your colours Gill. Very pretty. When we recently had our garage redone (because of the car fire back in August) the reno guy used Beauti-Tone paints and said it was the only brand he used. We tend to use earth tones when we paint.
Have a good weekend!

I tend to use neutral colours when I paint, but I am thinking of adding an "accent wall" in a couple of places this year to spice things up a little.

We like earth colours ... tans, greens, beige, browns. And one of these days the hallway will get painted to match, right now it's blue. They paint is downstairs, just need to get the painter moving!!

I've never painted, actually.

Beautiful colors...not sure which I would choose. They look like colors my daughters would go for.

I love painting and did it regularly when we lived in a house with painted walls. I even stenciled them in the kitchen area. This house has paneling though, so no need to paint here. My favorite colors were light blue and yellow. So pretty.
