I attended my second knit and stitch session on Tuesday and I am pleased to say I didn't have to "stay behind" class to have Angie re-do my work. Would you believe I managed to drop a stitch and decided in my wisdom to pull out the row and then put all the stitches back on backwards...........I know who knew there was a right way and wrong way to put on stitches????
I have now knit one full ball of yarn in dark gray and have started on the light gray ball:
I'll let you into a little secret, I have "lost" a stitch somewhere as I now have 124 stitches instead of 125........oops. I bought some stitch markers and boy do they make things a lot easier I have discovered.
"Y" is knitting with some fancy dancy yarn, and I think she mentioned a shawl or something? She is the best knitter ever and also weaves, crochets. She also has the funkiest hair ever.
"J" was starting on a pair of socks. She is fun and was telling us a story about a friend of a friend who has a fish called "DWAYNE," as when he dies that's where he is going...........down the dwayne!! No matter how many times I hear that I laugh.
Then there is "A" an expert knitter and so quiet, and such a good help when I make a mistake; which believe me is often! She is knitting a sweater using a yarn with YAK wool in it. It's super soft:
Finally there was Angie our beloved leader. Patience of a saint; well she has to have dealing with me. She was knitting a tank top, but it wasn't going as planned, so she pulled it all out and started again. Me, I would have cried and had a melt down if that had happened to me, but Angie took it all in her stride. That is why she is the one in charge!!!
If you want to learn more about The Knitting Basket, Angie has a Facebook page/site, Google it under The Knitting Basket, Alliston, Ontario.
Can't wait until next Tuesday as it is The Knitting Basket's 2nd birthday and "Y's" birthday as well!!

Oh fun! I enjoyed reading about everyone and their projects. I used to belong to a local knitting group but the yarn shop closed and the group disbursed. I miss it very much.
I remember the first time I put an entire row of stitches on backward. I could tell that something was wrong but couldn't quite figure out what I did wrong. :-)
Blessings,
Betsy
Sounds like a lot of fun. Even though my mum and my sister were knitters, I never learned myself. I have been thinking lately that after all these years I would like to learn.
you're doing really well. If it's a scarf you're knitting, then one stitch here and there won't make the slightest difference in stocking stitch or garter stitch (just don't tell your leader I said that though !)
I hate knitting on those circular needles, they have a mind of their own !
I'm glad you are still enjoying the knitting. The mystery of the lost stitch, lol i think every one has done that, as long as you haven't dropped it I wouldn't worry about it.
Took me ages to realize there was a right and wrong way for the stitch to be on the needle! If you have to rip a row out again you can just work into the back of the stitch when you begin working that row you just picked up and it will twist the stitch back the right way.

That sure sounds lime a fun and informative afternoon. So good to hear that you are doing well with your knitting.
I like the way you describe the knitters! Your yarn is cozy!
Sounds like you're having a great time. And doing so well, too!
Try looking down the back of the sofa for that lost stitch.

Your going to soon be knitting up a storm.
Looking at these images brings back the memories of watching my aunts busily knitting while chatting a mile a minute.
Sounds to me like you have met a very nice group of people, Gill!
Wow, such great detail. I just love these. :)
Oh! What are you making? That yarn looks cosy - perfect for the rainy weather we are having these days. I love Paton's Canadian yarn. I would have to say it's my all time favourite yarn. It's a nice soft acrylic and comes in so many gorgeous colours!
You and another Canadian are really making me wish I had learned to knit and crochet. But even if I knew, I have too much quilting to do! So I will just sit and watch your progress...I think you are coming along so good!
