All about houses.....

I will catch you up with our night out at the Art Gallery tomorrow.

Today we will talk about houses.

This week's home of the week, is a $2.2 Million semi; excuse me did I say a semi, for that money I want a detached house!!  Now this house may look Victorian from the front, but wait until you see what they did to the inside.  I am sitting here with my mouth open and the question WHY??? running through my head.  Suffice to say you couldn't pay me to live in this place with what they have done inside,  How on earth they got planning permission for the back facade boggles my mind!

Now the condo of the week is a delightful $1.7 Million; where do they get these prices from???  Plus you're spending over $1,300 a month on maintenance fees?  After through the photos I see you are paying for the view over the lake (Ontario).  Still way over priced for a 2 bedroom and I agree with the one comment, no curb appeal for me either.

I got this article in my inbox also, about off the grid homes.  I had a look through the photos and must say I was impressed with some of them.  1, 5, 8, 15, 18, & 25, are ones I would love to live in, just by the looks of them.  Living off grid seems like a great idea, especially with the cost of utilities rising all the time, but not sure if that is a feasible thing at our time of life?

We have all see yellow school buses on the roads; well in North America we have.  Never thought though of turning one into a cabin.  I love what this couple have done to their yellow school bus; as not only is it cosy, it's functional and bright too.  See more here

Finally, I am not happy with my baby blanket I am knitting, so I am pulling it all out and starting again.  I have mulled this over for a few days and the way it looks at the moment, I wouldn't want to give it to anyone.

To cheer me up I am knitting a dishcloth:

The home of the week is bizarre. I gather a genuine Victorian was knocked down to build this glass house. What a shame. That kitchen is way too long and uninviting and the rear hmmmm less said the better. The neighbours can't be happy.

I like the colours in that yarn, very summery.
you did the right thing undoing your knitting and starting over if you didn't like it, no point in buying any more yarn if you're still practicing. Keep at it.

The semi-detached and the condo are horrid, sorry. I shudder at the thought of living in either. Funny, my daughter is on a dishcloth knitting spree as well.

Ooooh didn't expect that on the first property, mad!
I think I would much prefer to live in that school bus, how cute is that!

I've just done the same with some crochet, wound it all back into a ball and started again, at least nothing is wasted.

Have a good weekend

I think whatever you make with that yarn will cheer you up! So sunny!

Nothing like knitting or such for therapy, except when it goes wrong! I've used some of the wrong colours in my embroidery. Danged if I'll tear it out, though.

Yes, I don't understand the housing market. Too many in debt for big homes. sigh.

Oh my! How could they do that to the lovely Victorian house? But I did love the itty bitty school bus. I've been trying to talk my husband I to downsizing for years with no luck. Pretty colors for the dishcloth.
Blessings,
Betsy

Aside from foreign investors buying up real estate and driving up the prices, I often wonder if the real estate agents themselves, eager to make that much more money, are driving the prices up beyond what is realistic value.

For appeal, I would take any of the off the grid places compaired to the expensive homes that look more like businesses than homes.

That being said, a lot of those that I do like--I don't think they would hold all my sewing stuff! LOL

I found the Victorian home attractive for a very sleek modern home, but it is not for me. (even if I could afford it) I have to have color around me.
I thought the condo was lovely, but still a little too colorless for my taste.
Off grid homes are fun to look at and imagine, but I am way past wanting to actually live like that. I am too attached to air conditioning in the summer!

I agree with you! I don't like the modern decor. It's weird and not at all homey. The condo's decor is undesirable, too. Maybe I'm just a fuddy duddy, but I like a home to stay true to its origin.

So I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving me a loan? I might want to buy a house. LOL.
I tried knitting and had the overwhelming urge to stab everything with the needles. I guess I don't have the patience for it. So you are way ahead of me.
Have a great weekend.

I had to check out that condo and discovered it is around the corner from us. I am stunned at the lack of amenities for that maintenance fee. Whenever I go by that building I am struck by how cold it appears.
