I moderate all my comments after having the Internet trolls attack my blog with all sorts of nonsense wanting me to buys drugs, fake handbags and other delightful stuff. I also don't like publishing anonymous comments unless someone puts their name there but yesterday someone who didn't put their name to their comment hit a nerve and I published it. Here is what he or she said:
"Do you have heat in your house? Is your roof leaking? Are your windows frozen? Have your water pipes broke due to the extreme cold? Did your car start up today? Have a dead battery, flat tires or worse yet, just a dead car? Can you prepare food in your kitchen? Do you even have a kitchen? Can you prepare and eat hot foods? Do you have food? Do you have money to buy the food or do you have to wait on a line outside in the cold? Do you have clothes that are warm? Are you ill? Do you have the flu or worse yet, pneumonia? Anyone in your family sick, ill facing death? Anyone in your family living on the streets, unemployed or starving to death?
So, let me get this straight: you're just upset cause it's cold out? Well, la de dah. La de dah.
Count your blessings and keep quiet."
Have to say they are right, things could be a heck of a lot worse and honestly I have nothing to complain about as I do have heat, food, and transport and although I am still fighting a nasty cough and cold, it isn't life threatening. So yes I should count my blessings; but should I keep quiet?
Well this is MY blog and I can write about anything I want on MY blog. I am not forcing anyone to read it, so why post negative comments? Don't read MY blog if you don't want to here me whine about the weather and how bloody cold it is out there. I'm British born we complain about the weather all the time it's part of who I am!!!!
So I am going to think about what I should write about tomorrow. Better make sure I don't whine about anything though, otherwise I will be in trouble again.
P.S. Winter storm on the way here.........that's nice (Mrs. Brown says that, but what it really means is **ck off!!!)
I am a British born, living in Canada since May of 1989. My blog is about all aspects of my daily life.

Wow. Someone got their cornflakes peed in! lol! If I were you i'd write about the cold EVERY. FREAKING. DAY. from here on in till spring arrives.. hahahaha!! ;)
Oh Gill, ignore, ignore. ;) Have a great day!
Oh this so made me laugh. Totally agree its your blog and you can say what you want and if they don't like it they shouldn't read. I'm your newest follower and have enjoying reading some of your older posts. I spent half of my childhood in Ontario and when I came back to the UK at 17 found it very werid that people think they can say just what they want to you and think it's ok. I had loads of negative comments about my clothes and the way I talked. People would say to me "I'm Northern and I'm straight" my response was "No, your Northern and your rude." Hope the storms not too bad. Looking forward to reading more.

All the negative nellies are out in force. I had to turn on comment moderation as well. I just get those who just want to tear everything apart.
I am so sick of the sanctimonious people who seem to think they can say whatever they want.
It's your blog and you are right. I think if people disagree, then don't read it!
Deb
That's one reason I don't allow anonymous comments. That way people who want to judge my life can do it in their own time....not mine.

That comment was totally unecessary and someone cowardly because they didnt leave their details. Living in the land of Mrs Brown, I say from the heart. 'That's Nice' lol
"Anonymous" certainly got their bowels in an uproar. A person's level of complaint is a very personal thing and is relevant to only what they are experiencing. No one has the right to criticize another. Have the person blow it out his ear!
Try to feel sorry for these people, they are obviously not right.
Seriously though, I agree with the others, It's your blog to do with what you want....in a very British way! Don't hold back just because some idiot is trying to rile you or it won't be YOUR blog.
it must be the weather - lol! it brings the Trolls out in huge numbers!
You say what you want - if they don't like it, tough!
Well said!
LOVE IT!!!!!!
Blogs are the water coolers of this moment in time and what do we talk about more than the weather? Talk about weather all you want! Say, it's sunny here right now. About -24 C. How's it in your neck of the woods? :)
I bet 'anonymous' was sitting in a very warm house with little or no snow and has been able to leave her house without the fear of frostbite!
I love winter, I love cold and even I'm tired of being cold! When I can't send Ella out to play FOR DAYS that means it's too cold.
Besides, like you said, your blog your opinion!
I absolutely understand your frustration with the bad winter we are having this year, I am originally from Chicago and now live in Florida. You can whine and gripe about the bad weather as much as you want venting to other bloggers is good for the soul and if some don't like it they don't have to read it. I love your blog. Sue.M
I just love that programme and I must remember when that f word comes up as it often does, to replace it with 'that's nice' lol.

just ignore them they sound grappy
Yay ! Whine all you like. As you say , it's your blog , if someone doesn't like what you've written , they can take a hike. I like to read other peoples' moans, it kind if helps to put your own into perspective .x
Omg do they not understand the concept of our blogs, your it's your blog and you can write whatever you bloody well want. As for winging about the weather we all do that it's either too hot or too cold or too windy or too wet. It's just what people do.
Yes I agree it's a mrs browns moment to tell them " that's nice"
Reading that, the person in question seems to have issues. Like a few people I've met, just being themselves is a life sentence.
I did notice that one and wondered why you'd published it. Maybe that person had some issues they are finding too much themselves but it does seem strange to take it out on you.
The weather you are having would be enough to make a saint swear so you are doing pretty good in restraining your language!
Going to be warm here in Melbourne today and we've got some more HOT HOT days coming up (41c/105f) predicted for Sunday and Monday so there will be pleanty of moaning and groaning going on in my house lol
Take care
Cathy
Love the video!
Haha! Tell them to come back for another go in a couple of months. When you can complain about the heat. Hehe! Sue
Wanted to post a good comment. Those negative people just need to go elsewhere. WTF? And yes it is friggin cold. And in the summer we can complain about the bloody hot weather. Just cause it is our own thoughts and we (and you ) get to say whatever we want. Keep on blogging and continue with the "that's nice". Loved the video.
Your blog so you write what you want ! I can't understand why people leave a comment like that on someone's blog. If you don't enjoy reading a blog then don't read iit delete t FFS !
Dee
Who does enjoy reading how cold it gets because I can't imagine weather like that
Yeah, I noticed the comment yesterday...and while I thought it true, I would bet money whoever wrote it complains, too. I don't know of anyone who doesn't complain about the weather...and we all have days where things get to us.
You go girl! Your post reminded me of an Oprah show when she was trying to be nice to a really negative person spouting off in her audience. She was polite to the guy even though he was an idiot and very disrespectful then the next day she announced that this is the OPRAH show and she would decide the tone and content of the show and if someone wanted to be negative and disrespectful they could go do it on their own show. After she said that I decided that on my blog I will decide the same thing so negative stuff gets an automatic delete instead of a debate or argument with the negative person.
I wonder if grumpy pants is Canadian? Being Canadian, B****G about the weather is something we also like to do, LOL.
On that note, the cold has packed it's bags and left, but we're getting a nice dump of snow again. I like the snow...it's a lot nicer than that relentless cold isn't it?
Did you hear about the poor chap in Orillia who has nowhere else to put his snow and the city fined him for having a 10 foot snowpile that kept falling over onto the sidewalk? What got me is that this gentleman is a TENANT on the property. Where is the landlord in all this? There, that's my crazy weather rant for today.
Have a great day Gil!
How silly - they couldn't have read all of your blog, the way other readers have! Besides which, you are, afterall, British. And, the weather here in winter is NOT what we are used to! I mean, I complain about it constantly! It is awful! I definitely agree - you should ignore it!
Oh, how I love Mrs. Brown! Its your blog, they chose to read it, if they don't like it, don't read it!
