I know you're saying, "now what's happened?" So here is the latest episode in how me and cell phones should never be in the same room as one another.
When I got my smart phone I just went with what the guy at the store told me. It turns out according to the kids I have a crappy plan. They tell me that every time they see me. So ds told me to get this other plan with unlimited minutes and texts for $65 a month. On Christmas Day it once again came up about my bloody phone and one of them was looking at my phone and told me I had over 500 messages????? Who on earth has been calling me and leaving me messages???
Turns out they are emails.....okay so that's not bad..........as I was worried I had missed 500 + phone messages. Also turns out I didn't even have my voice mail set up..........I didn't even know I had voice mail and unless one of the family set it up I wasn't doing it. I think Our Little Princess' mum found this all quite funny as we are arguing back and forward over this bloody phone.
Then our little Princess' dad was saying how I must be signing up for everything and how he has different passwords for everything. I pointed out I only have a couple of different passwords and it takes me all my time to remember them!!! Dd installed the PC Plus phone app on my phone which was good as I can check how many PC Points I have. However it turns out I should only have it attached to my credit card not a separate card...........gosh it must be nice to be a know all when it comes to technical things!!!
So back to the bloody phone, I called Bell and changed my plan to the $65 one. They were going to charge me $75 but I told a super rep called Lovely; yes that was her name, that no the kids had said $65.
So now I am paying $65 a month and am now in a 2 year contract rather than a 3 year contract. Between you and me I have no idea what the plan entails until I get the paperwork and/or email. Told ds I would forward the email on to him and he can make sure I got the right things.
Lovely did show me where my voice mail is though I need to set it up. She muttered on about data, but was confused about that. The main thing I use my phone for is taking photos, sending texts and checking my email and if I have to using the phone.
By the way I have a Sony Xperia, and as per the kids I should have an I Phone not an Android phone {{{SIGH}}} Next time I need a new phone I will make the kids come with me, so if there is an issue it's their bloody fault not mine!!!
Some days I feel so bloody old you know!
P.S. the phone did NOT come with a manual, you have to download the bloody thing???

My sister got a smartphone. Her daughter and grandson were with her and talked her into more than she can handle. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I don't have a smartphone and I don't know if I want one.
Hugs,
Deb
I got hubby a smartphone a while back and I hear--on nearly an daily basis--"what's wrong with this phone??" It isnt the phone, it's him...same with the computer! But it can be a bit overwhelming with new phones being able to do a hundred things that arent related to making phone calls!
Oh goodness me: if nothing else it persuades me that I never, ever want one. A simple mobile phone which takes and receives calls is all I need...and to be honest that spends most of its time switched off lol!
I am due to renew my mobile phone contract but am totally confused by everything that is on offer. I am trying to get my eldest son to sort something out for me.
Hope you have a wonderful 2014 X
I did a long post about this, Gill, and feel your pain. In my case, my i-phone is required for work, and work has made it plain it's ONLY for work stuff. I did colour outside the lines a little by calling colleagues just so i could see how the damn thing worked. Then, our email system went all pear-shaped, so while waiting for that to die down, i just check email on my computer. I'm so 20th century.
Oh dear sounds like a passel of trouble to me. lol. I don't have an iPhone I have a HTC android and it works fine. It's just different I do have an iPad and it would be nice to be able to sinc it but it's no matter, next phone I get may be an IPhone it just depends on the deals they give. Once you get it sorted it will be easy I promise. Kids these days just ge hooked on the iPhone craze. Some oth the other phones on the market are acually much better products. Don't stress too much over it. Just relax and enjoy your new toy xxxx
Don't listen to them; Android phones are good! I got a Windows 8 smartphone (the lowest of the low) because it was cheap and it is fine, too!
I refuse to have a smart phone. I will not have a phone smarter than me. I have a basic, Samsung flip phone that looks ancient even though it is brand new. I can text and I can get on the web. Oh, and I can talk on the phone. I don't have a contract, I pay month to month. Our kids were on our family plan for a long time but when they went off on their own, Hubs and I got the most bare bones bit we could. All I want is to be able to call somebody in an emergency.
Kids know it all do they not? Hahaha... I am actually loving my new iphone; hopefully I will be soon faster then I have been the first 24 hours.
I have a blackberry curve which I love and I have a plan not a contract. I hate touch screens so this is fine. It does what it needs to do, send texts, calls and occasionally free wifi. I tried to set up the pcplus app but got confused.
