Thank you for all your good wishes regarding Millie..
we seem to have got through the first 24 hours relatively unscathed. She did pee in the house on Monday night once, but since then (touching wood) we have not had any accidents. Molly used to pee on command, just need to get Millie to understand that!!! Went into town and she is so good in the car I am so impressed. Called in at some friends house and she was pretty good there as well. I was just terrified that she may pee in the house, but she didn't.
She has really made herself at home and has decided the couch is hers:
She can be quite vocal and barked/howled up a storm at the two horses in the paddock......
The only person who is really suffering is myself. I have been stressing so much about her not being house trained I have ended up with a severe headache. So I need to relax and everything will fall into place. Also my apologies for not visiting everyone's blog, I am so tired with this headache my eyes just can't focus properly.

Millie is beautiful. I have to go back in your blogs and find out when she came on the scene. I have not been visiting or blogging as much as I would like because of events happening at our house -- good ones -- but time consuming and somewhat stressful. I'll be telling my blogging friends in a week or two. In the mean time everything must be kept under wraps.
She is lovely, it's wonderful that you gave her a new home.
Just relax and she will quickly pick up that the house is not the place to pee in.
I used to have a Beagle called Benny, he really was the love of my life, they are such intelligent and kind dogs.
Take her out every hour or so and tell her to 'pee' or whatever word you usually use as your command, if she gets a little treat every time she does it she will soon cotton on and be completely house trained.
She's a beautiful dog and she so lucky to have found you as her new companions.

Just rest and feel better. Maybe Millie is just adjusting and will be just fine.
I'm sure she'll settle in very well. Don't fret about the pee - it can always be cleaned up. Just enjoy her loyalty and love. Sue
Hope the head gets better soon. Having a new animal can be really stressful but it sounds like you're doing a great job with her Gill.
She is a pretty thing for sure. Maybe she just needs to get use to her new home and will not be problem once she settles in. Feel better soon
If Millie's been in a kennel at the SPCA for a while she may have gotten used to peeing in it. I doubt you'll have any problems with her as all my rescue dogs have caught on super quick that the house is not the bathroom. We would have one, maybe 2 accidents in the beginning and now when something happens you know they're sick. When I'm gone from the house, I'd kennel my dogs for about the first 6mths until I could be sure I could trust them to not get into anything. I have a Husky/shepard cross who loves his kennel. I've taken the door off and have one of his beds in it as he loves to sleep the afternoon away in his "cave". All in all, they're the best pooches in the world!
Awww Gill take care of that headache, as we know how bad they can set us back. Millie looks like such a sweetie on HER couch.

Oh I know, I'd be stressing about the peeing-in-the-house-thing too. Take some aspirin and take her outside and you'll all be fine in the morning!
Millie is gorgeous!!!! So who sits on the floor or in the dog basket? *laughs* I’m so glad she has a loving and happy home with you. Millie may take a little while to settle in as she has been rehomed and then taken back to the shelter again. This will cause her to have insecurities until she feels safe.
May I suggest you create a routine for her (and yourself to save stress) so you can gently house train her? Offer treats when she has done well, etc. My BIL is a Vet and offered advice when we adopted a couple of rescue dogs a few years ago, we had “teething troubles” to start with them peeing everywhere. Also have a litter tray in the bathroom just in case. This can be phased out over time.

Oh, it is wonderful she likes to travel...our last two dogs did not travel well. Always had a dread when I had to take them to the vet.
Lorelei's dog, Otto, is a wonderful traveling companion.
It takes time for both of you to get used to the new routine. It'll all work out. Hope you can relax and get rid of the headache.
She's a sweetheart and is obviously right at home!! Try to relax and have faith that everything will be exactly as it should be with Millie... Mollie was such a wonderful family member, i'm sure Millie will be in time as well!! Hugs!!
