Here's why I have been busy.......

We have this on our front lawn..........

I am absolutely pooped with all the work. First let me say, and I am not bragging here, but everyone says our house is really nice, I keep it clean, and one neighbour is always saying its like living next door to "Better Homes and Gardens." After this past week though and with all the "staging" and sorting out that has been done, I feel as though our house was a real dump, that couldn't sell the way it was before hand.

I personally didn't think our house was cluttered in the first place, but our real estate agent kept going on at us, less is more. Now our real estate agent is a super person, but good grief she wears you down. Dh doesn't like her at all, but as I keep telling him, don't worry about it, as I only chose her because she'll sell the house...........we hope!! Mind you dh doesn't like most people, so honestly its really no reflection on her.

One thing I do know is that as long as I keep the real estate agent and dh apart we'll be fine. If you are a real estate agent, I would skip the next line, as you may not be happy with me!!! I have no loyalty to real estate agents. Our last two houses have sold in less than a week. The last house, the real estate agent had a buyer all lined up for our house, and she only dropped her commission 1/2%, I was happy she sold the house, I wasn't happy though that she charged us so much for doing so little.

I am guessing you want to know where we are moving to...........we don't know. We had looked at a place and put an offer in last month but that fell through, and not 100% sure if we are going back to that house. There are a couple of other properties that we are interested in. All are in the country and all are on a minimum of 1 acre+.

Another house has come up for sale on our street, that is why we decided to put ours on the market. The other house has only 3 bedrooms, ours has 4. Also we have an over sized pie shaped lot, one of the largest on the subdivision so we are hoping that will sell the house as well.

So wish us luck, and pray this house will sell super fast, as I am going to be demented trying to keep this house perfect!!

Gill - you have all my silent support. Will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you. And have to agree with you regarding estate agents!

We too are attempting to sell our house but the market in UK is at all time low. Pity - we had our eye on a flat overlooking the beach but that sold long ago.

Good luck.

Keeping a place showcase ready can be taxing. Keeping everything clean and in place...
You never know when someone will want to see.
Good luck. Times are tough right now, so you'll need all the luck you can get!

Good luck with the house sale. We went through all that last year and it was very stressful.... now we have been in our new house 16 months and I am very happy and glad I went through it all.

i can't say that moving is a fun experience...

but, if you are indeed moving to the country...a wonderful change.

still having boxes three deep in the garage after four years (aren't i horrible). flip side, its stuff that obviously is not important in life's daily grind like depression ware and such.thinking it almost time for a huge tag sale.

working full time is definitely not conducive to other things like unpacking (even after all these years)...lol.

have a great weekend. take care

I really do wish you the best of luck Gill. We are about five years from selling our house when hubby retires. We also hope to move into the country. The first half of our marriage when Gregg was in the navy we moved ten times. We haven't moved in 18 years now since he retired from the military, and so have to get rid of a lot of 'stuff' that we've collected. We have given ourselves five years to downsize and get things ready for the move and to get the house ship-shape. A momentous task so I wish you all the best. It will be exciting to see where you eventually buy your new home.

I hope your house sells quickly for you! I have so much clutter in this house and never have the time to weed things through! It drives me crazy!

Hi Gill

Best of luck with the move. I can't get our house tidy never mind keep it that way.

I'm not into minimalism and decluttering which all the property people go on and on about. It looks so cold and clinical, not at all like a home.

My daughter says she'll end up getting a big skip when we pop our clogs and she has to clear the house of my sentimental belongings. I laugh and tell her she'll just have to get on with it, I cleared up enough after her for years!

I've always heard that having more than one house for sale in a neighborhood is a good thing, because it generates more traffic--traffic in seeing the houses, is what I mean.

I've noticed here that people will move into new homes before the old one has sold, and that's scary to me. I've only sold one house--and it was in one state, while I was buying a house across the country. NEVER want to do that again--for 10 days we lived in a motel, with one night in our car, between closings.

Flylady.net has great moving tips, if you need any. Sounds as if you're pretty organized already.
