These photos were taken at Drayton Hall in South Carolina on September 22nd, 2008, when we were on vacation. Look at all the green "stuff" on the top of the water. As always click on the photos for more detail.
Make sure to click on the top photo, as I think there is a gator in the water? I never noticed that before!!!!

Yep, I have discovered I have been finding it harder to hear, especially when there is a lot of back ground noise. So figured I would get a...

what a great photograph..love the blue heron in all his/her majesty surveying the scene.
What a lovely catch - the blue heron - on a dull day. ;-)
I see, I see! The alligator! Looks like it was an exciting vacation.
Good job, great photo of the bird. You can see all the detail when you enlarge it.
Lovely...I am very impressed with the gator...we dont tend to get them in Ireland hehe.

Awesome Photo!!! I didn't know they had gators in England. Thanks for stopping by my place. Take Care!!

Isn't it great catching one of those herons? That does look like that might be an alligator. :-) Thanks for participating in Watery Wednesday. :-)
It IS a gator in the water! I love that - when you discover things you never knew were there! I had to do a double take, too - the algae on the water almost looked like land. Nice!
I followed the link to Drayton Hall and find it beautiful. It's amazing that it's almost 300 years old.
I love your pictures.
Hi...I did think Drayton Hall in the UK...but not with the gator hehe
Thank you for the post..actually I only got one mildly negative comment and I really really enjoyed writing my last post...the glass of wine or two helped as well ;-)
I refuse to be dictated on what i can write about but after a week of silly headlines here (Russell Brand..USA and cloned mice)...I had just had enough. Was very theraputic lol
Hi Gil,
That green stuff looks just totally gross. EEEWWW! But other than that it is a fab pic.
Love & Prayers,
Ronda
Gorgeous picture. That color on the Heron is spectacular. If there is a gator in the photo that bird better think to taking flight!
Great capture of the heron! I can't imagine him sitting there so peaceful is that is indeed an alligator!
I had to go back and read because I didn't think there were 'gators in Cananda! But it's S.C. Looks like some very slow moving water.
Great shot!
That sure does look like a gator.
If you had known...would you have stood so close? tee hee
I clicked and yes-I think there is a gator
I took the photo from the truck thank goodness, as I honestly never saw that gator!!!
Gill
That is a gator! The blue heron looks like it's not bothered by it. Great shot!
Wonderful photos Gill. I think I would have stayed in my car too. My nephew lived in South Carolina for a couple of years and there was an alligator that regularly came on his property. I didn't realize gators were that far north.
I see the gator!! How cool!
I love the bird and it is an alligator in the water. I saw one in Florida in a little pond in the green water they are hard to see but if you throw something in the water they swim over to see what you threw in. I was ready to run though, they run fast on land.
If it is indeed a gator, the heron certainly doesn't seem very concerned. Hope the heron's day ended well..
Good Photo's! I think I may have spotted the gator!
Oh wow, those are really cool shots. I have never seen a Blue Heron before.
Did the gator ate the bird? I wish not..
