Well I am so over winter........

what do you mean it's not winter yet? If I see any more bloody snow I am going to scream!!! We must have had well over a foot of snow these last couple of days.  Monday it was my turn to use the snow blower to blow out the driveway.......I was knackered after doing that, it's bloody well hard work.  Should say Molly is in her element in the snow, loves burying her face in it.

Sorry for the "strong" language, I have a feeling it's going to be a long winter!!!

I was listening to the radio the other day and this song is the most requested song on the radio.........

Monday's cookie was Sunny's Holiday PB & J Thumbprints That actually sounds not too bad.  I personally only like peanut butter in cookies.  I wouldn't dream of having a peanut butter sandwich; I am not a huge fan of penaut butter.

Winter has arrived...........

Well winter has finally arrived and it snowed for quite a bit on both Saturday and Sunday.  Mainly streamers off the lake but enough that dh had to blow out the driveway with the snow blower.

I managed to get the tree up on Sunday.  Moved it to a different place this year in the hopes my chocolate decorations don't melt this year!!!

A fine Welsh man in honour of John. Shakin' Steven's "Merry Christmas Everyone"

Must say I think this is a good cookie recipe and one that is so simple to make.  Not sure though if you get the sugar cookie dough in Britain though?  Here is today's recipe Raspberry Cake Bars   For those of you who can't buy the dough here is a sugar cookie recipe.  I haven't tried the recipe, YET, but will give it a go when I have a few minutes to spare.

Another Christmas video and a funny story........

Another Christmas song, that is a classic, John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War Is Over.)

Saturday's cookie looks super simple: Claire Robinson's "Turtle Graham Bars."  Now I don't eat dark chocolate (gives me migraines) so I would have to change it too milk chocolate, but I reckon it would still taste as good.

Talking about chocolate, a couple of funny stories.  Dd called and she was saying she had been out and got me my last small gift for Christmas, but something had happened and it was only half the size it was????  It turned out to be a Terry Chocolate Orange, but the milk chocolate and mint version.  Both me and dd adore mint and chocolate.  So she was very excited to have found this.  However she was a bit concerned I may not like it, so she thought she should try a piece to make sure it was alright.  Then she decided to try and bit more, and a bit more, until there was only half of it left.  She thought of just wrapping up the half, but then decided she would just have to eat the rest of it and get me another one!!!

Now many years ago my brother bought my mother a box of Maltesers.  He too decided he should try them just to make sure they were alright.  On Christmas morning my mother got a half empty box of Maltesers for Christmas, as he didn't have the money to go out and buy another box!!!  Uncle and niece are so very much alike............and they get on like a house on fire.......

Finally another yummy cookie recipe.......

I have to say Enya's voice is perfection in this version of "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Must say I would be very tempted to make Friday's cookie. "Giada's Lemon Ricotta Cookies with Lemon Glaze."  I love anything lemon, so will have to try and remember to buy a tub of ricotta when I am out grocery shopping.  It's not something I buy very often, ricotta cheese.  Do you use ricotta cheese a lot in your household?

Well I survived my second day at work.  I enjoyed it as I was busy in the afternoon doing some filing and sorting out some paperwork.  It's funny how I only go into work a couple of times a year, but within a couple of hours I have picked it all back up again.  Which is handy for my boss, as at least he doesn't have to re-train me on everything whenever I go in.  Mind you he was showing me a couple of things in the morning, as with each version of the accounting software they make some changes.

Have you seen in the news what is happening in Britain and parts of Europe with the horrible weather they have been having.  The poor folks in Buffalo got a real "dumping" of snow.  If you're in Buffalo, I'm sorry you got hit, but I am glad it stopped on your side of the lake and didn't pop over to our side!!

There is snow north of us, as I saw a number of cars going south when I was heading home covered in snow.  Hoping it will stay north of us!!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.........

Another Christmas video and another cookie recipe.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the Trans Siberian Orchestra, now would it?

Thursday's cookie recipe is "Anne's Dried Cherry and Almond Biscotti."  Well must say that didn't do anything for me either, so going to give that a miss also.  This is not going well is it!!

So I went to work on Thursday.  I enjoyed it and it made a lovely change.  Will say though I wasn't too keen on the early start and although I was "perky" on Thursday, must say I am glad I am only working the two days, starting at 8am, as I can't guarantee on being "perky" everyday when I have to get up at 5am.

It takes an hour for me to get to work, and on Thursday morning, I also had garbage to put out, plus do a few other jobs, including putting supper in the crockpot.  As I said though it made a nice change.

I see its coming up to a big week in Coronation Street.........

Two videos to watch today.....

I first saw this on John's blog, it is just so funny. Make sure you have the sound on especially at the 45 second mark. I would love an English Bulldog as a friend for Molly.

Who doesn't love Boney M's song.....it's a classic

In answer to Fee's question yesterday, as I write this on Wednesday night, we don't have snow on the ground.  So you will have more snow than us in Somerset.  I will be quite peed off on Thursday morning, if I get up and we have a foot of snow mind you!!!

I am working on Thursday and Friday of this week.  A bit of a last minute thing, but it has come at a good time, as I got a letter in the mail and we can order trees cheaply through our township, so I will now have some money to get some.  We have the pick of :

Sugar Maple (3ft to 5 ft Potted) $22.50 each
White Birch (4ft to 5ft potted) $13.00 each
Hemlock (3ft to 4ft potted) $14.75 each
Red Oak (3ft to 4ft potted) $15.00 each

Now I do realize that I will be dead and buried by the time any of them grow to great heights, but thought I would like to do my bit for the planet earth.

We can also order bundles of trees, babies to 2 years of age, including conifers and hedging.  They come in bundles of ten and you have to order a minimum of ten bundles and they range in price from $9.30 for Eastern Red Cedars, up to $16.60 for Sugar or Red Maples.  There are also both White and Red pines, White and Norway Spruce.  Balsam Fir, Eastern Hemlock, White and Eastern Red Cedar, Red Oak, Black Walnut, Red Osier Dogwood and Witchhazel.

I will have around $200 to spend I think, and there is a $10 shipping and handling fee as well.  What would you buy?

The third cookie recipe was " Barefoot Contessa's Coconut Macaroons".  Well as I am not a huge fan of coconut, I am giving this one a pass as well.......lets hope there is something a bit better tomorrow!!

Tightening your nuts and Christmas........

I learned a new word on Tuesday  RE-TORQUE  I went to get my oil changed on the car and my winter tires put on.  When I came to pay for it, there was a sentence highlighted to say I need to re-torque my wheels after 100km.  So Patricia the delightful lady who works at the garage was telling me, either dh could do it, or I could bring it back to the garage and they would do it.  All the while I am thinking I have no idea what so ever what she is talking about, and as I have just had the tires put on, why would I be bringing them back?

Anyhow, I said to her I had no idea what she meant, and so she went on to explain to me that how the wheel can come loose etc, etc.  So I finally clicked what she said and said to her:

"Oh you mean my nuts may need to be tightened!"

She said yes, but they don't like to use that expression with so many men around!

As it's the first day of December I will feature a YouTube Christmas song each day, now that I have figured out how to post them again!

I promised I would show you what I have been busy with.  It's actually nothing exciting, just a Christmas wall hanging.

The back:

I did very little quilting on it, but it does look lovely.
The cookie recipe for Tuesday was Aartis Ginger Cookie With Garam Masala; now must say that didn't really scream out yummy to me, so didn't bother with it.  If any of you do make it let me know how it tastes.

Well let's try this again........

I'm back, feeling a whole lot better (fingers, toes and everything crossed!) and hoping to stay that way!! Just felt all out of sorts th...
