Slipper Thief.....

Not sure if it's Brain Fog or just a case of me going/being Senile.
I went down the town on Monday.  Came back in and the first thing I do when taking my shoes off is put my slippers on.  They weren't by the front door where I normally leave them.  Not by the chair where I sit, nor in the bedroom.  I even checked in the garage, just to make sure I didn't put them in there.  Rechecked everywhere again and still couldn't find them.  So I put my Birkenstocks on, still confused about where the slippers could be.

Now this is where the irrational part of my brain takes over.  All I could think of is why would someone break into the house to steal a pair of stinky slippers that I have worn all Winter?  Luckily my more common sense part of my brain took over eventually and decided I was being stupid....did take a while though!

Then while all this was happening, I was looking for my grocery receipt so I could update my grocery total on my blog.  Again do you think I could find it.  I knew I had looked at it in the car when I left the store.  So I looked in the car to see if it was there, no.  Looked all through my handbag, looked in my purse, couldn't find it.  I eventually found it stuck behind another receipt.

As for my slippers found them also eventually, in our walk in closet/wardrobe.  I must have got changed in there for some reason and left my slippers there when I changed out of my old pants into my better ones.

I was shattered after all that.  Being forgetful is just plain tiring when you have to do all that thinking!

Now to make me feel better, please feel free to share your stories of searching hours for something that is right in front of you!!

Gill, I think we all have moments like that. LOL! One of mine...just the other day, I was getting ready to go out, so I put on my clothes and had put my belt over my arm. I was trying to find it and felt so silly when I realized it was right over my arm. :)

Oh my, could I tell tales... mostly about the Great Scot, lol.

Like the wrench, that sleekit thing, that hid from him. In my hands. I'd found it on his first search and every time he walked past I would hold it up and say "you mean this wrench?".

Finally, after an hour, he noticed and exclaimed "When did you find that?!?"

Someone posted a pic yesterday of their slippers accidentally still on their feet on the beach. You aren't alone in slippergate. My mother lost her keys and found them in the fridge when I was young.

I'm smiling her, Gill, because I think we all forget where we put things. I think we all do an amazing amount without thinking or while thinking about something els.

Hahaha! I love this post. Reminds me of similar moments I have. Many moments. And some classic ones. Like searching frantically for my glasses...that are on top of my head!

Our (now dead) cat ,Eliot, was a thief..she once stole our neighbour's fluffy pink slipper and brought it home for me. You didn't find any little ghostly paw prints did you?

BTW
I couldn't walk down the hall without my glasses, I'm terribly bad with vision, so I can't lose those!

I agree with Linda. We all have moments/days like that. For your reassurance, you aren't going senile. Trust me on this one!! Happy to hear you found both the slippers and the receipt.

That just sounds like brain fog to me, and it happens to everyone.

LOL, I have a wonky Birkenstock story!
I own two pairs, a closed toe clog and a three strap pair of sandles. I wear one or the other constantly, mostly the clogs for trips to town. I can't tell you how many times I've stepped out the door with one sandal and one clog on! If I don't look, it's easy to make the mistake because they FEEL the same!

Oh I know for a fact we all have moments like these I know I do those are the days I am glad my head is screwed on or I would be in trouble lol all though when it comes to my slippers being gone it is usually Miggs that steals them and places them about lol ! Thanks for sharing glad you found your slippers and the receipt . Have a good day !

It happens to me everyday Gill! Today it was a piece of paper with some email addresses - I did find it eventually!

How funny! Even our little grands lament the "loss" of their shoes! The shoes they want to wear out the door are downstairs or they have to wear their barn boots because they can't find ANY shoes. Your brain is in good working order. I bet you were thinking about something else and thinking very hard when you put your slippers in the closet. I really did lose a green pair of clogs seven years ago. We went to Asia and when we came back I could never find them. I would still like to! Have a great day, Gill!

Happened to me as well and yet it seems I always find something lost in the LAST place I look!

well there are the keys that ended up being found on the hanger where they are supposed to live - not on the table, chairs, under the bed,in the my bag or even the fridge, all the places I thought they might have been. No idea how they got there lol
Take care

Sitting here with tears in my eyes...from laughing so hard. I love the way your irrational part of your brain works.

I will tell you something...I have a quilt top that is lost. It is big enough for a full bed. I have been through every thing in the house at least two times over and cannot find it. So I have irrational thoughts when it comes to it. It has been lost for years.

Gill, I kid you not...all night I have been walking around with just one slipper and one show on because I just can't find the other slipper. Makes me so mad!
