My New Iron.....

I go through irons and kettles at a very fast pace it seems.  So a week or two ago I ordered a new iron off Amazon.ca. I got the Rowenta Steamium.  After taxes it came to just over $161, I paid $0 as I used my gift cards I got from Swagbucks.

I figured I would pay more for an iron in the hopes it may last a bit longer.  This one is also made in Germany.  So far so good,  although I do find it a little heavy, but that maybe because I have not gained back my strength in my hands, especially my right hand.

I know I have mentioned this a number of times, but if you haven't already joined Swagbucks you really should.  I don't have any referrals and still cash in for $25 worth of Amazon.ca e-cards every month.  If you would like to know more or would like to sign up for Swagbucks let me know.  If you do decide to sign up could you please do up under this link:

Swagbucks is available for people living in Canada, the States and Great Britain.  You're already on the computer already, so why not earn Swagbucks at the same time and get free stuff?

What small appliance are you forever replacing?

I have had my iron for about 15 years, but then I don't iron, ever! I go through washing machines at a rate of knots, I think it is because I am married to a builder xxx

I have had a Rowenta DG7140G0 since April 2008 and I love it. Yes it did cost a little bit more than usual - but it is still working brilliantly, steaming wonderfully and I think it was definitely worth the money. hope yours is as successful.

pressing blessings !

Touch wood we seem to be quite lucky with our appliances. Let's hope that's not jinxed it!

We hadn't replaced anything for a while. We are praying we reach mortgage freedom before everything decides to die on us E.G. white goods-washing machine, fridge etc...

Nice iron Gill!

I had an iron from that same company, it lasted a little over 10 years before it started leaking like crazy, went with a cheap model this go around. We seem to be forever replace toasters, all they make now is junk

I am always replacing my electric kettle and drip coffee maker. It's frustrating how they don't last!

Sorry you haven't regained all your strength yet. Looks like an iron that does its job well.

I hate it is such a throw away World. Wouldn't be so bad if it created jobs in Canada I would not mind so much, but ... nothing gets fixed anymore.

I just replaced my Rowenta because I dropped it three times, cracked the base of it and then it wouldn't go off automatically and it leaked water. I am hard on irons! I also replace kettles as we use them constantly -- especially now that the Hubs is retired -- it is like coffee central here. I also had to replace two, almost new, Samsung refrigerators because they went out well before I thought they would. I only got 5 years out of one and about 7 out of the other and they went out within a month of each other.

Still have the stove and fridge/freezer from 1996. We are hoping they hang on until the renovations/decorating is done.

I have a Rowenta Steam Iron and feel it is the best on the market for the money. My one comment is that it takes a lot of water. It's the coffee maker that's forever needing to be replaced. Whether you pay a lot or very little, they don't last more than a couple years. Bess...MA

Gill don't use your well water in it. It will harden and ruin the steamer. Use distilled or water from your dehumidifier or furnace. I would love a new iron for sewing.

So far finger's crossed, I haven't had to replace any small appliance for a long time. Having said that, I believe my iron will be the next item replaced. It gets used a lot with all the sewing I do.
The makers of everything these days seem to just throw things together, they don't last, and we have to keep buying new. I could say more on this subject..just don't get me started.
