More decluttering and a change of plans......

So this week's project is the living room.  I have been making excellent progress, but there has been a slight change of plan.  Our township is having a Garage/Yard sale on May 5th, so I have decided to book a table inside at a cost of $10, I have sold one of the VCR Players on Kijiji for $10 so that will pay for our table at the garage sale.  What that means for the living room is the table we have in their is now the holding place for things I want to take to the sale.  So the room doesn't actually look as tidy as I would like BUT I have had a good sort out, thrown a lot of stuff out, recycled stuff, and am going to try and sell some things.  Plus all the boxes in there have been emptied and sorted out.  So here are all the photos.

Some of dd and hubby's wedding presents.  All those green boxes are part of dd dinner service, this pattern. There are more wedding presents up in the attic.
This is the table with all the "stuff" on it for the garage sale and what is on sale in Kijiji at the moment.
Looking over towards the sofa, the bed frame is now laying on the floor behind the sofa, haven't found a home for it yet.  I made the small quilt on the back of the sofa.
This is the Welsh Dresser we have in the living room, we had it made before we came to Canada and I have to say we love it.  All the plates on the dresser are Wedgwood.  The boxes on the right are wall lights for the family room, plus a new door handle for the front door, and a out side light fixture for the basement.

The next photo is of the door to the living room.  Round here it's called a Dutch door, as there were/are a lot of Dutch immigrants who settled in this area.
I found another set of plates that we hadn't put up yet, these ones are German.  So I decided to showcase them on the dresser in the kitchen.  I will say the kitchen dresser looks a heck of a lot better on the photos than in real life.  It was put together by the prior owner and not put together well in my humble opinion.

So after a few days of hard work I have completed week two's challenge.  However there are two boxes of "computer stuff" for dh to go through that is still sitting in the family room........hoping to "encourage" dh to tackle that this week.  Oh, and my back is saying have a rest now!!

Oh, and if you haven't entered my Giveaway, pop over and do it now, click here!!

My Welsh dresser looks daft compared to yours. It's home for DVDs, CDs, books and boxes and files. It is in my office so it's understandable. I'd love to have one dressed like yours though.

Gill, you have really "put the petal to the metal" and gotten this challenge under your thumb. Everything is lovely. Really "love" the layout/look of your blog design at the moment. Great day to you.

It's great to see how much progress you are making, Gill! Congratulations on selling the VCR and it's good news that your town is hosting a garage sale.

My husband and I finally finished laying out kitchen floor yesterday. I never would have guessed it would take so long but it seems DIY projects always do! The money we saved was worth it though.

Lovely to take a peep inside your house and see all the pretty things. I noticed how shiny all the wood is. It looks like you enjoy polishing it. Is that true? I have a dresser too. It is waiting to be moved into the kitchen, where an old unit is begging to be put outside in the tip! At the moment my dresser waits in the dining room. Please someone, help me to shift it! Ha ha
You are getting on well with the clearance. I have been doing a bit of that too lately. It is lovely to have the space appear isn't it!

You are doing great Gill!

I didn't get that job, but I am actually pretty glad, it only paid $13.50 per hour and the interviewer kept stressing how her boss liked to challange and push his employees, which translated to me that he was a micromanager - something I can do without.

I am going to participate in a craft sale in March, so have to get cracking on making things, tea cup pin cushions, some of my artwork, fabric tote bags and I am thinking some fabric journal covers.

You are coming right along! I have a friend, and she is quite a bit older than me...probably 20 yrs older. But every spring she goes through her house with a fine-tooth comb. I mean she literally takes everything out, cleans, and goes through things. I don't know if she still does it, since we don't visit much any more...but I just really admired how she did that every year.

Great job Gill,
Hopefully you can make some money at the garage sale off of your great de-cluttering efforts.
Love the cabinets with all your pretty plates on display.
Your new blog site looks more up to date and streamed line. I really should up-date mine some day.

I love your welsh dresser! We call them dressers too though I know they go by lots of other names. They hold so much and are a great display space. You are making huge progress!

Can I enter my husband into this challenge? I am trying to get him to tidy up his study. I have taken some dustbin bags up there, but he does not seem to have taken the hint.

The previous owners of the cottage left behind a Welsh dresser which we sold as we did not have room for it. We have never regretted it and my plates are hanging on the wall.

Beautiful piece of work, I love the Dutch door. The dark woodwork reminds of the house I grew up in. Great decluttering.
