They were busy little bees........

We have a family of chipmunks in the garden, and they were extremely busy on Tuesday morning eating the seeds from the tree by the deck. So I took a couple photos of them, they're cute.......well as long as they stay outside of the house they are cute!!!

I am now going down the old basement with trepidation as I know I have to get rid of this mouse, but I honestly don't relish the task of hauling a dead body out of the the trap, and by dead body I mean a mouse body!!! So far nothing though. Not sure how long I have to keep the traps down there with peanut butter on them, does anyone know?

It was another hot day on Tuesday, so I basically ended up doing very little. I wasn't feeling 100% and with the heat it just made me feel a lot worse. So I lounged around the house all day being a lazy bum. I did go outside and hoe the weeds from the veggie garden, but even that was hard work in the heat. At least we are managing to sleep, because as soon as the sun starts to go down I open all the bedroom windows and turn the fan on. I wonder how people kept cool before they had electricity.

Mice adore peanut butter...you need to check it regularly and occassionally change the wall you put the trap against...they are clever little critters and if they see the body or a loved one (hehe) they will avoid that place for a few days. You just keep putting em down there till you stop trapping them. You need to change the bait after a few days as well or it goes off and is worse.
Sorry, but its unlikey you just have the one...

morning...as much as the mice love the p-nut butter they may/may not take the bait. of course a daily check of the trap(s) is suggested. they may be nibbling on something they like even better ^..^

Gill, I agree with Gaynor. You probably have more than one and it also might be a mole which are harder to catch. Love the pictures of the chipmunks.

Glad you took a day to just lounge around. More hot weather coming your way from us. And it's suppose to get hotter yet over the next several days with no sign of rain here for at least 4 days. Stay cool!!

Those chipmunks are lovely.

I'd rather have a cat than those traps.

From their tails, I'd say those were squirrels, not chipmunks--unless Canadian terminology is different!

We used to have a family of mice in our last garage--killed all the adults, but the babies were harder, as they were a little too small for the trap to get. It was also harder for me to see them dead, even though I knew they'd grow bigger and cause more problems.

Chipmunks are great, lucky you to have them in your trees.
