A couple of observations first. Since moving here, it seems to rain on Wednesdays and or Thursdays. Why does this matter, well it's garbage day on a Thursday, so generally I put the garbage out in the rain. Also on a Thursday we get our weekly newspaper. Now first of all I am really grateful I receive the newspaper, but every week the newspaper delivery person throws the newspaper at the end of the driveway and it always lands in the pothole at the end of the driveway and due to the rain, the pothole is full of water. So every week I have to dry the newspaper out.
So on Sunday morning, our neighbour called round with his tractor to scrape the driveway, so we don't have any potholes now in our driveway. I think I had mentioned it before, but when I went to introduce myself to them, we got talking and to cut a long story short he would scrape our driveway, in exchange for some of our raspberry plants. To be honest I wasn't sure if he would ever turn up, but he did. We need to order a truck load of crushed gravel by the end of summer to put on the driveway, as it hasn't been attended too over the years........nothing new with that given the state of the rest of the house!!!
Dh spent the morning and part of the afternoon cutting the long grass with the brush cutter. I got some more of my veggie garden dug and before and after supper I got some more grass cut, including part of Kamikaze Hill. I was very proud of myself, and only got stuck once.
It was bitter cold here on Sunday. Super windy and cold, infact when ds called he said he had woken up to snow, and he is only 4 hours north of us. I wore a coat and hat when I was outside. I am ear infection Annie, so need to keep my ears covered when it is cold.
We nipped out in the afternoon for a break and I picked up some veggie plants, I know I am cheating not growing them from seed but I am behind schedule this year. So all in all a productive day. I must say with all this fresh air I am getting, as soon as my head hits the pillow I am fast asleep!!

Why dont you put a box with a lid on the end of your drive marked with newspaper?
We are having a bit of a mini heatwave...probably our summer so sorry to hear you have cold weather! Well done with kamikaze hill!
the newspaper guy would not stop to put a newspaper in a box, as they throw it out of the car window as they drive by. That's why it always amazes me how he hits the puddle every single time.

what a lovely exchange...ruts gone for raspberry bushes. how far are you from your previous home? did you have those winds there?
I just caught up with several days of your posts; and it seems you are still very busy with your newly acquired house and yard. You two are certainly ambitious, hard-working people, and I'll wager that before too long everything will be just the way you want it. It is just discouraging that so much work has been required. Your attitude is really admirable.
That's good clean, country living that makes you sleep so well, in addition to working hard and wearing yourself out.
