Counted cross stitch

I love doing counted cross stitch, and have been doing it for years. However I had problem with my carpal tunnel and ended up having it operated on so haven't done cross stitch in a few years.

I thought I'd show you some of the things I have hung up around the house.

This is the first sampler I did back in 1988, just before we came to Canada. It hangs in our powder room.

I did a four seasons one. It was actually four separate kits that I had framed together. This hangs on the upstairs landing.

This is a sampler I did for dh's mother. When she passed on my sil gave it back to me. This is hung in the spare bedroom.

I made this one for my Nana, and when she passed on, I asked if I could have it. It hangs above our bed.

Finally I did a pair of houses, I think back in 1988.

This is the American House:

This is the Victorian House:

You have some lovely pieces to enjoy. Must be hard not being able to do something that obviously brought you so much joy

Very nice. I used to cross stitch but haven't done anything much since the kids. Hard to find the time or energy or patience.

I used to do tons of cross stitch. I loved doing it. It takes forever though, and quit doing it. I do some simple stitching now, and of course quilting.

Excellent work! Hopefully, you will be able to work some more cross stitch projects. Is you wrist healed? You didn't say when the surgery was done. Dimensions has some absolutely beautiful kits...I'd like to quit my job and just stitch all day long, but, alas...I need to work for a living - at least until I win the lottery.

Carolyn, I had my hand operated on at least 6 years ago, and it is playing up again........they told me when I had the operation, it wouldn't fix it forever....oh well...I do have a cross stitch project on the go, that I would like to finish before I die...LOL

They are all lovely but I think my favourite is the one you stitched for your Gran. I like cross stitching too but just run out of time to do things these days.

Hello!
I randomly came across your blog while looking for cross-stitch patterns. I absolutely love the Victorian House and the American House! Beautiful job and darling patterns. I know it was a long time ago, but do you happen to know where I can track down those patterns? Were they in a book?

Gill - That British Woman said...

Kim, It was a booklet with just the two patterns, and I got it in the early 80's, back in Britain. If you want more details, I would have to go and look for it where I store all my patterns.

Leave me a comment with your email address on it, and I will do some research for you.

Gill
