Update on the step ladder story..........

I still feel as though I have a burning sensation on my tail bone but am not hobbling as much.  It's worse when I am sitting and when I am trying to lift up my legs higher than a regular step.  I went into town to "run" some errands yesterday and I was crippled with sitting in the car.  However I do feel as though there is a bit of an improvement happening.

Must have bopped my head as it feels as though its all bruised, but luckily the bruising hasn't come out on the skin!!!

Last night was a gorgeous sunset that I wanted to share with you:
Makes you glad to be alive.

What do you do the day after you pay off the mortgage?

Well you go shopping of course...LOL

Don't panic I didn't go crazy.  I needed a couple of things for our vacation.  I called in at Northern Reflections and picked up two t-shirts. The burgundy one was $7.99 and the yellow one was $5.99, so with 13% tax added on that came to $15.80.
We went to Sears also where I searched the sale rack and got the black and white capri's, which I think are Tanjay and paid after a further 40% discount $20.39 for.  The black ruffled top is also Tanjay, and again after the extra 40% discount came to $13.79.  The black and blue 3/4 sleeve t-shirts were under $15 each.  I cashed in $10 worth of Sears points (didn't know I had them?) and ds gave me a $10 discount coupon when you spend $25.  So all in all I paid $48.93 after including the 13% taxes.
It's not often I buy clothes so this is a splurge for me. Plus I got five tops and a pair of capri's for under $65.

We went to Herb n Sage in Barrie for lunch and had a breakfast for lunch.  Dh had the same except he has sausage.  It is so good and only $6.99 each.  If you are in Barrie at all this is well worth the visit. The bread is organic, the jam home made, and they fry their potatoes with a mix of herbs including rosemary that makes all the difference.
Finally I took this photo of when the sun was setting the other night.
Thanks also for all your good wishes re: paying off our mortgage I really appreciate them all.

Managed to get a couple of things crossed off the to-do list on Monday

No idea what was up with me on Monday but by 8:30am, I had two loads of laundry hung out.

Had a pot of ham bone soup simmering on the stove.  The bread maker was all loaded up to make a loaf of bread for supper.

Made wibbly wobbly pudding for supper and washed up all the dishes.

More often than not I am still in my dressing gown at 8:30am.

I had to be in town for 9:30am as I had a hair appointment.  Got there and it was closed due to illness {SIGH}.  Still I had stuff planned to do besides that, so I did my grocery shop, called in at the dollar store, put gas in the car $1.309 a litre {{SIGH}}  Donated last months books to the library and called in at the garage to make an appointment for today to get the oil changed in Betsy, as she has hit the 6,000 km mark in just under 6 months.

Was home by around 11am.  After lunch I dug up all the potatoes and cut the front grass.  Brought the washing in and did the ironing.  By this time it was 3:30pm.  Went out and cut the field for an hour.  Came back in and sorted out supper and a couple of other things.  Had supper at 5pm.  Dh went to town to get his hair cut, while I went outside for another hour to cut more grass.

Came back in and plopped down on the sofa to spend some time on the computer and watch a bit of tv.

Only thing I didn't get too was my quilt, which is still laying on the kitchen table.

This is a photo of the sunset on Sunday night:
Is that not stunning?

Another day, another sunset.......

Another stunning day weather wise.  I managed to take this shot of the sunset:
I also took this shot of a Blue Jay at the feeder:

We had a very stressful day on Tuesday.  It was over a four hour saga trying to pick up the rental car, my brother had ordered and paid for.  It turned out to be the fault of the booking agents in Britain, so they will be getting a talking too from my mother when they get back, as it really was ridiculous the runaround we had.

Suffice to say we are all pooped......

A gorgeous sunset and my brother............

We had a beautiful sunset on Monday evening, and I took a couple of photos.

My dear brother is not known for his exercise abilities, but had has surprised us all and has made a new best friend out of Molly and walked her three times on Monday.  Even going down the back field and back up again.  Not sure who was puffing more my brother or Molly!!  I took this photo as evidence for my other brother to prove yes our dear darling younger brother did walk the dog!!

My mam brought me a few British cookery magazines so I'm going to enjoy looking at those.

Only 4 more sleeps until the wedding!!!

Beautiful sunset.

Although Saturday started out as just plain bloody miserable, with rain and fog it turned out to be a gorgeous day.  I think it got up to 20 oC, so no wonder people are sick, with the weather going from hot and cold overnight.

Talking of sick people, you'll be pleased to know I am going to live!!!  Still not well, but I can actually see light at the end of the tunnel.  I have discovered  Buckley's Caplet's and they seem to be working a charm.  I actually got a good nights sleep on Friday night.

Poor dh is struggling with his CPAP machine/mask.  He had another overnight sleep study and they turned his machine up from 9 to 12; since then he has been struggling.   We are now looking into the Mirage Liberty mask to see if that would work, as he is struggling to keep his mouth shut............and that is why this would be no use at all for me!!!!!  He needs the machine turned up that high for it to work properly on him.  So I need to ring around next week to see where I can find this mask without importing it from the States and it costing a fortune in shipping and duties..........

I must be feeling a bit better as I really want to get out and about in the garden, however our forecast is for rain all week, so don't think I will get anything much done for a couple more weeks.  I hope to get caught up with all your blogs over the next few days as well.

Pooja

On Thursday evening we went to a Pooja for the first time ever.   A Pooja is a Hindu house blessing.  Below is how the "alter" is set out.  Everything has a meaning, and unfortunately I don't remember what it is.  They were praying to Ganesha, which is represented by the small figurine in the middle of the "alter."

This shows "R" lighting the candle, her sari was spectacular.  "M" was also dressed up in Indian dress.
The man on the left was the priest who performed the ceremony.  If you look at the "alter" you will notice there are a lot more "things" on it now.  The whole ceremony lasted around an hour.  I got to participate in it, as I was an "old" person there!!  I had to throw marigold petals along with another guy on "R" and "M's" heads.
After the ceremony they had food.  Now I DO NOT like spicy food.  I normally never eat Indian food as it is much too spicy for me.  Anyhow against my better judgement I decided to try some, after checking what everything was.  I was told to avoid the lentil soup, but everything else was good to go, or so they said!!!  Wrong, wrong, wrong.  There was this salad of very finely chopped tomatoes, cucumbers and onions, so you would think that was safe, but no that was spicy.  There was a veggie dish, that I had a spoonful of, and felt my whole face go bright red with........very, very spicy!!

There was this green veggie thing, that looked like a chicken nugget, and again was as spicy as heck.  The naan bread was good, as was the saffron rice, the yogurt sauce thing, the spinach dish and the spring rolls......bit confused as to why there was spring rolls there?  I thought that was more of an oriental dish?

There was cake for dessert which was good and a round ball thing that was made with chick pea flour?  I wouldn't rush to eat that again, but it wasn't unpleasant.  Overall we had a super time and I met a couple of people who I hadn't seen in a while.  I bet there was around 40 people there, luckily it's a huge house so no one felt squished.

Took this photo as the sun was beginning to set on Friday night.

A question and other stuff

This was Friday's sunset, we have been having some glorious sunsets recently.

Friday at 5am I had to let Molly out for a pee and the car was covered with flurries, it was nippy cold here.

I was talking to my mother on Friday and she was saying that she has been inundated with telemarketing calls.  I was saying that over here in Canada we have a phone number where we can register our phone number on a do not call list.  My question for anyone in Britain, do you have the same thing over there and if so what is it?

I love this town sign, it's so pretty don't you think?

I'm all excited as I get to go to the Creativ Show today........I should have lots of lovely photos to show you on Sunday!!

Thank goodness for Dh.......

Our washer drains into a sink which then drains into a pump which then pumps the water up to the septic/sewer line and out into the spetic bed.  On Wednesday I was doing laundry and when I went down to the basement to get it out of the washer, I found water everywhere on the floor.  I figured that the hose had come loose.

On Friday did more laundry and the same thing happened; so this time figured that maybe the bottom of the washer had rotted out.  Anyway did another load and discovered the pump wasn't working; instead of pumping the water up to the septic pipe it was just pouring out the pump all over the floor.  What a flipping mess.

Anyway my dear dh came home and stripped it down and repaired it, and now it is working fine!!  So that saved us $300 thank goodness.

I went to get the mail from the mail box and it was full of mail on Friday.  Unfortunately at least six pieces of mail was for other people at other addresses!!!  To cut a long story short I got the phone number of a "higher up" individual and they are going to see what's what.  I told them I am fed up of the situation and they are not to use my name............so we'll see what happens.

Friday's sunset........pretty nice eh!

Trip to the dentist and a gorgeous sunset........

Tuesday was a busy day, and a lovely day.  Had to go to the dentist and get the permanent filling put in, which cost another $40; that was 20% of the total bill, the insurance pays the other 80%.  I am back at the dentist at the end of the month, for my six month cleaning.  While there I need to have my bottom tooth x-rayed as I have a feeling that tooth is not at all well............

In the afternoon I cut some more grass, then after supper cut more.  The field is now half cut.  The sun was setting when I was cutting the grass and the sky was just gorgeous, so I ran inside and grabbed the camera and took these photos.

Talked with the post office again and told my story.  What good it will do, who knows.  The lady did confirm though that a number of people on the same rural route as me have been complaining.  So all I can do is wait and see what happens.

Canada Museum of Nature Part 2

Now I can't for the life of me remember which gallery this was in but I thought it was interesting: I did not know that it takes plastic...
